AAA ADIVICE WANTED NOW!!!

Hi people!
I am in front of one of the biggest choices of my life.
I guess there's a part of me which has already decided, but the rational one is looking for some tips of yours...
so....

I have to choose between

- my actual career path , which I am developing slowly, but kind of good wedge and incoming salary, though it seems there are not really attractive perspectives for a future upgrading...

and

-leave everything, my house, my forniture, my friends and family and go somewhere far away and start a brand new life on my own living on a very simple style, opening a little beach bar and having no dressing codes, no social rules, no career path and no disappointments, apparantely.

what would you do?

thanks for your time!

...but having made a similar decision 7 years ago I would say go for it!

I too had a very well paid job with great prospects in the UK, but felt in my heart that it wasn't what I wanted to continue doing until retirement. Divorcing my ex was the deciding factor, and I left the UK to travel round the world teaching.

I ended up here in Spain 3 years ago and I am happier than I've ever been, despite the fact that my income has reduced drastically and I live in rented accommodation. The simple life suits me fine now that I've adjusted and accepted that I can't go out and buy everything I was able to before. I'm healthier because I walk everywhere and eat better food and I don't have any of the stress or pressure related to climbing the career path.

Friends and family keep in touch, distance is not such a hurdle with cheap flights these days.

Good Luck!

Well, I will be honest...starting over is tough and some people are afraid to do it. I am in the process of doing it. I left a great job, sold my condo, and moved back to the town I left years ago and am finding that starting over is hard, but I LOVE IT! I am still in process of doing it, but most importantly, I am doing it.
I say GO FOR IT-there is nothing like a simple life on the beach and owning a little bar. You don't have to worry about social expectations because at the beach-anything goes! Besides, being happy is what life is all about...it doesn't matter if you own the right type of furniture-all that matters is if you are happy.
Also, this may be what your life needs right now-
I think a lot of people go through what you are going through and I hope you make the best decision for yourself.
It's scary, but how do you know unless you try.
So what if it doesn't work out-it's a new pallette for you begin creating.
Just know that you aren't alone-and that again-you never know unless you go for it...don't sit back and wonder what if. I'm cheering you on whatever you decide. cheering
GO FOR IT...
I just wanted to tell you too that I agree with the earlier blog (from Spain)....
you can adjust to your new salary...
and even if you can't go out and shop or spend money like you use to-those things are part of what is causing you to feel that you need a new life-
It's all clutter and meaningless...so
again 3 cheers from me and go for your simple life!cheering
You don't say why you have to make a choice? I'm guessing that you are thinking of moving to escape something or someone?

If you are running away, then you need to look at the reasons, what it is you are trying to escape? The simple life with the beach bar and relaxing environment sound like a dream, but dreams very rarely come true... it usualy results in the same problems but in a different place!

I have moved many times in my life but one day I sat down and looked at the reasons... I was trying to escape me and all these beautiful lifestyles I was running to had one thing wrong in common... I had my bought my head with me! Since reaising it was me that had issues and on dealing with them, my desire to search for pastures new and greener have ended and I live my life contentedly.

Good luch with whatever you decide to do :)

Pete
Take some vacations to where you want to go, fell out the area live there for a week or two a couple of times, poll and find out if you can make a living there and your dream will work, save up a lot of money /operation capitol and make sure your location is not just "tourist "seasonal driven". Good luck
