Be Thankful
You think you're not pretty. There is always someone uglier. You're chilly. People around the world are frozen.
You want a boyfriend. Some people don't even have a family.
You're complaining you're hungry. A child out there is starving.
You want new clothes. Someone is looking for anything to stay warm.
You want to die. People who are dying would give anything to live.
You want more money. People are in poverty.
So don't waste time on things you think you want
because there is always someone out there who needs
it much more than you could ever possibly know.

When the world doesn't measure up to my expectations, it's often my expectations that need adjusting, not the world. I start by comparing my life today with the way it used to be... developing gratitude. I extend this exercise in gratitude by counting the good things in my life, becoming thankful that the world does not conform to my expectations but actually sometimes even exceeds them. By continuing to further cultivate gratitude and acceptance, what I can eventually expect in the future is more growth, happiness and peace of mind.
I've been given much in life and most has really paid itself off. Gratefully accepting my life - as it is today - frees me from my complaints of self-pity, thank you!
It reminds me of the one I heard about a guy complaining about his worn shoes and then he met a man without feet.
Be thankful for what one has.
Under this perspective, being single is wonderful, considering the desperate attempts to divorce by some married!
