Running the race!

In the bible the apostle Paul preaches about "running the race" which means simply to strive for the goodness of God by obeying Him all the time. A couple of sundays ago our pastor preached on running the race and in his presentation he used a film clip about a young boy.

Now this young boy is afflicted with a terrible illness that has left him just about unable to walk much less run. From the waist up he's just like everyone else. But from the waist down his legs are bent and shriveled like the small skinny limbs of a bush or tree.

However, this doesn't stop him from participating in certain activities like races. And that is what this film clip is all about. The boy begins the race and he falls back further and further as the race continues. His classmates that he competed against complete the race and this young man hobbles on. Sometimes in a slow walk and sometime in a spurt of "running". And just about when you think he will stop and collapse his bent and twisted legs, his heart and his brain carry him on and on. Not only does he continue he completes ALL the laps he so inspires everyone that as he approaches the finish line his teammates all run out and finish the race with him cheering him on.

It was a tearjerker and a good feeling all in one reminding everyone in church the strength and will of a young boy that doesn't give up the race!

Ed,

Thank you for sharing the inspirational story .We must not to forget to thanks for what we have now.We are lucky to have a good health and normal life.

A son asked his father, 'Dad, will you take part in a marathon with me?'. The father who despite having a heart condition, says 'Yes'. They went on to complete the marathon together. Father and son went on to join other marathons, the father always saying 'Yes' to his son's request of going through the race together. One day, the son asked his father, 'Dad, let's join the Ironman together.' To which, his father said 'Yes' too.

For those who don't know, Ironman is the toughest triathlon ever. The race encompasses three endurance events of a 2.4 mile (3.86 kilometer) ocean swim, followed by a 112 mile (180.2 kilometer) bike ride, and ending with a 26.2 mile (42.195 kilometer) marathon along the coast of the Big Island . Father and son went on to complete the the race together.

Hi Ed
Thank you for sharing with us!!
It is so true that it is all about finishing the race and winning it all the time.

With GOD it is like that as once we made a commitment to GOD we must finish our race on earth. Not always an easy race, but all worth it in the end!!!

very uplifting story ED... i have video want to share but dunno how to paste it.. anyways i just picked this bible verse for everybody:

Ephesians 6:16-18 (GNT) says, "At all times carry faith as a shield; for with it you will be able to put out all the burning arrows shot by the Evil One. And accept salvation as a helmet, and the word of God as the sword which the Spirit gives you. Do all this in prayer, asking for God's help. Pray on every occasion, as the Spirit leads. For this reason keep alert and never give up; pray always for all God's people
