Provocation or freedom of speech?
Some right wing group plans to stage demonstrations in front of mosques over here, saying that Islam has no place in Germany - and to underline their attitude, they intend to display Mohammed caricatures during their "protest". All this of course right at the end of ramadan.Oddly enough, a court has actually allowed them to do that. So, the police are expecting some serious clashes.
To me this seems like sheer provocation, it has nothing to do with freedom of speech. I really do not understand why "demonstrations" like that cannot be simply stopped, before people get harmed.

someone wants mayhem and chaos on the streets
of coure.
I lived in the middle east for a while.
fascinating places i saw, but strange ways of thinking..
the cultures dont mix.
plus, in many cases religion conflict is merely an excuse for something else maybe ?
But does that give a small group of people the right to provoke those, who are seemingly so different?
why no picture ?
c'mon..
However!
There are groups that use the freedom this act allows as an opportunity to provoke conflict to support an idea or cause.
You may find that the court which allowed this demonstration to take place was bound by the terms of the freedom of act law having been unable to prove “just cause” that the “protest” would be anything other than peaceful. After all Judges have to adhere to the letter of the law and are not allowed to take into consideration the “reactions” of people when making judgements
I do not mind what people believe in and how they worship, as long as they do not try to force their religion onto me.
I would also never dream of standing in front of any place of worship, trying to provoke those, who do not share my believes.
It seems that the politicians have passed the buck to a judge, who then just stuck to his law book, passing the buck to the police, who will have to deal with whatever develops as a result of this undecisiveness.
Basically, I agree with you.
so all these shows look to me like a bad comedy.
of course they r directed and guided , but not form the demonstrators , as it looks the obvious, think harder
(caugh)eeeeemmmmmm. buddy u have some dirt on ur face, better check it out before go out on public again
I would like to see tolerance overcome those frictions between different groups - if that makes me a liberal, so be it. I believe that people of different religions can live together peacefully because I have seen in happen. I have been to church in a muslim country, and guess what - nobody threw rocks at me! (or taunted me with Jesus caricatures)
Icecream and snow is not the same.
I got good news for you however: you will have your will.
I see your vision of brotherhood of all humans;
with respect, trust and decency and frankly i support that idea.
