Hysteria
Have you ever watched a rumour get out of hand and develop into something outstandingly ridiculous? After a very short time it takes on epic proportions, more people, who don't really have a clue what they are talking about but don't want to be left out, add more and more phantastical details to it, and before you know it, mass hysteria has broken out.It's very entertaining for a observer, who looks in from the outside and shakes a) his head in disbelief and b) with laughter.
