God Sees the Individual

Question: When there is a natural disaster like an earthquake or hurricane that claims many lives, some people say that God is judging those people for their sins. Does God really operate that way?

Answer: Only God knows why certain events happen to people in one country or area and not to those in another, or to certain individuals and not to others. Paul said that the judgments of God are “unsearchable, and His ways past finding out! For who has known the mind of the Lord? Or who has become His counselor?”1

It’s not our place to apportion blame and sin, or to pass sweeping judgments as to why people suffer in natural disasters or other catastrophic events. God alone knows all the factors and all the reasons those things occur, and only He has the ability to judge these situations.

Also, the Bible makes it clear that each person stands before God as an individual.2 God doesn’t hold every person in a nation accountable for the ills and evils of the nation, or for the mistakes and sins of its leaders. Governments may be misguided, morally bankrupt, corrupt, or evil in some cases, but that doesn’t mean that all of the people in those countries are guilty of these things collectively.

“God is love,”3 and “He is not willing that any should perish.”4 Each person is a unique individual, created by God in His own image,5 and God loves each one as if they were the only one. Each person is someone Jesus died to save.6

God takes people where they’re at and works in their hearts and lives accordingly. He loves every single man, woman, and child, no matter who they are, where they live, what color their skin is, what their ancestors did or didn’t do, or what they believe or don’t believe. He still loves them, even if their lives are consumed with sin or they live in spiritual darkness.

When a disaster happens, the Christian graces of love, compassion, sympathy, caring, kindness, generosity, and goodness should most be on display.

Question. Why does God not mention or make reference in the bible to people from Africa, The Americas, China or any other of the millions of people throughout the world that existed at that time? Why only those that dwelt in a very small part of Mesopotamia or the middle east?

Answer. Because the bible was written by MEN who new nothing of the larger world or the people that lived in it. They were just trying to understand or make reason of their world, or what they believed was the whole world at the time. Same as the Egyptians did with the Sun God Ra, or any of the other countless gods created by man to try and explain things. There are over one thousand Gods recorded throughout history, your God being just one of them.
Good Grief ! ! ! ! Don't tell me in this day and age you still belive that natural disasters ( huricanes, floods, earthquakes, etc. ) are the wrath of God . You and Jerry Faldwell would make a nice team, The two of you could be the next chapter of " dumb and dumber ". . . . rolling on the floor laughing rolling on the floor laughing rolling on the floor laughing
And if the head of the fish and all fish smells ? God does not give warnings ? Only God knows deeply reasons. Cause and effect. peace
Where the sins multiplied, GRACE WILL ABOUND.

Well, there is a force that controls everything, some of us called that God, some, Mother Earth or Science. Btw nice heart!
Very good, Keys. God does have control over the weather. Gid is omnipotent, which means He is all-powerful. Remember when Jesus and his disciples were in the boat on the Sea of Gallilee? It was storming, and Jesus simply reached out His hand and stopped the stormy seas. But God can choose to stop the weather from happening, or allow it to continue. Many Christians still believe that all the earthquakes, storms, tornados, etc., are occuring as a warning that we are nearly at the end. This is to encourage people to get right with God, while there is yet time. What you do with the time you have left is up to you.
God is omnipotent.
