Tell Me More
Hello everyone!I know nothing about SA. Except for a few bits about the Apartheid and a few music artists i liked, i know next to nothing. No, i'm not going there nor planning a visit. Just got around to finding more information about SA after watching a film "Searching for Sugarman" as recommended by a dear friend. I liked the film and set my mind on learning more about the country.
I'm posting this blog as i have recently read an article about the current social situation there and now i'm keen to know more. I know there are a number of bloggers here from SA so your contributions and information are very much appreciated as i'm more confident they're first-hand.
Below is a link to the article.
How true is this?
Thanks!

I was going to post a similar blog but I opted for my Gaza one
All the info I have is from the days of apartheid The Biko movie and the free Mandala concert
I did watch this the other day and that's what got me thinking
I would also like to know more about this part of the world.
Kamusta ka?
I don't know about SA, regarding to the article it seems the white people should be aware to live there
All the good policemen and detectives were sent into early retirement and replaced with incompetent and corrupt officers. Crime is running rife. Good judges are retired and replace with party favourites. A court have just ruled that a convicted drug dealer may have his laptop and internet in jail.
Young people leave the country to seek a life elsewhere.
No. I fear I cannot recommend the country as a tourist destination either. Foreigner get robbed and mugged daily.
But that is just my view.
Cat,
It does seem like there are more going out than coming in. I worked with a number of folks from SA a few years back. They came here as a group and i never gave SA a thought except for a quick mental note thinking "this is a place for greener pastures?" that was in 2004. Now i understand a bit that most are seeking opportunities elsewhere.
i can't help but think that the black community weren't ready for the responsibilities that came with freedom from oppression.
