I recently got in touch with a long-lost German girlfriend and she's now in.....Costa Rica, Monteverde to be exact. She's running a stable where tourists can ride on one of her many horses for sight-seeing. It's called Sabine Smiling Horses. Check her out on TripAdvisor, she has got many excellent reviews and comments!
She has been asking me to pay her a visit countless of times. Told her that I'd need to sell one of my kids in order to be able to do that! Wayyyyyyy too expensive to fly to South America from Asia.
I was thinking of retiring there...seems you can have a good lifestyle with very little money...if you have a pension plan or enough money in the bank...you are allowed to stay there...many Canadians are doing this...
That is right, many people come to retire here in CR bc it is less expensive and a quite place to live at. Well actually it depends on the place you choose bc there are many luxury places where you will be paying more, but CostaRica has good beaches if that is what you are looking for, mountains, beautiful valleys, etc

Will do...probably going to CR when I turn fifty to do a little exploring and research...what beaches are good and what towns are good...

Regarding the beaches, you can visit the Pacific and Atlantic coasts. In the Pacific coast which is safer than the other side you can go to Playa Manuel Antonio, Playa Bahia Ballena, Playa Conchal in Guanacaste, Playa Tamarindo, Playa Nacascolo, and Playa Flamingo.
In the Atlantic coast in the Province of Limon (our African/Jamaican side of the country) a bit dangerous if you go by yourself, you can visit Playa Bonita, Playa Manzanillo and Playa Puerto Viejo.
I live in the Central Valley in the province of Cartago Costa Rica and it has lots of beautiful places like mountains, volcanos, etc.
