The Mysterious Singer!

I have always been a kidder. Especially with my precious Mom. She never got the punch line in a joke and she never understood the kidding or crazy silly things I would do and say to her. I loved to croon Spanish songs when she answered the phone.

One time I called her because I hadn't heard her voice in awhile so when she answered I started singing to her. She hung up on me and when I called her back I was still laughing and I had to quickly say, "Mom, it's me, Eddie".

Needless to say that became a classic story that we still enjoy to laugh over at family get togethers. And, of course, the silliness gets crazier as the story evolves from year to year and from gathering to gathering. BUT NOW! That we have all gotten old my 90 years old twin sisters get the story wrong and we still have fun with it with all kinds of imagined add-ons!

Today I called one of the 90 year old twins that lives in Colorado. I wanted to thank her for the timely $$$ gift! When she answered I put on my best "professional" sounding voice and she promptly hung up on me. I quickly called her back and said, "It's me, Ed"!!

We both busted a gut and the "old" Mom story came out again. After much laughing and silly comments we said our goodbyes. I called my sister Merc in Pasadena, CA and told her the story. Once more the Mom story of her hanging up on me came up.

Yes, mi gente, the family had a crazy mirthful afternoon. I just wished all of you could have been here to enjoy it too!!

lou lou!

I was a grown man!! I did it all my life! You see, I never grew up!

Aren't Mom's just the best?
Ed, this is just too cute. My mom was blind and we use to do practical joke on her... but somehow no matter how we tried to fool her with our voices, she knew who we were, and tell us, Y'all must think I'm crazy, I'm not crazy, I'm just blind rolling on the floor laughing

Yeah, moms are the greatest especially, when they are up in age and have a sense of humor.
great blog, and its not even Mother's Day ... you're a wonderful son
Hi Ed!

Your mom sounds like my momgrin

She's too serious, quiet, gentle and doesn't know what's going on outside her home, can't recognize a joke or any silly things, my brothers and I grew up throwing practical jokes at each other but she could only hopelessly look at us and plead for us to stop and behave ourselves.grin

Fun family memories last forever...teddybear
Sista in Christ!!

Can't stop loving them! How sweet your Mom's answer's were!

Love

Mom wasn't real serious. She needed a picture drawn. I still am crazy about Mom. Even if it's only a memory!

Our sister Juanita was that way too. And she used to use malaprops and not by accident!! Hee Hee
Great blog brother Ed,thumbs up

Awww, brings back many memories! My brother is still the big joker in the family! We talk on the phone about 3 times a week. he always has something funny to tell me or I have something for him. We remineise about the old days about mom and dad! Memories you could never buy!thumbs up
Gj!

Sorry to get back so late!

Funny you should say that. I just got off the phone with my brother and we were chuckling about Ben Rothlisberger, the quarterback for Pittsburgh Steelers, and how he waddles when he runs. But he escapes the rush most of the time and connects the passes! That in itself is funny too! I mean, how does he do it??
