I do have a moment. I'm typing and mostly not thinking
about the 'cold' I have. But, when I do, I can feel

Those moments ago are kept alive by our minds and thoughts. Some fade and others grow stronger. Nostalgia vs nightmares. Others we forget and we lose some depth to our present lives that our past built up, until total recall.
Either way, it's not in the now. The hand from the past can affect our present...good or bad and both. So is yesterday really gone?
