HJFinAZ: 1. Yes, several retreats around AZ. One is in Paradise Valley, approx. 15 miles east of me. It is The "Franciscan Renewal Center". I have been to a few men's retreats there, it all depends on what you are looking for. "Possibly", I could take you on a "retreat" to some secluded, out of the way places here in AZ. 2. As we speak, I have potato, vegetable, vegetable beef, brocolli, turkey, bean, and chicken noodle soup in my freezer. ALL homemade.

Well I'm not lookin for Mens retreats..I'm not that deperate Yet laugh

And going on a retreat with you to some secluded part of AZ? Can I borrow ya mums shotgun to take with me? tongue

All that home cooked food sounds yummy though

Ya just can't beat it

petalbabe: When you come on to the forums, how much stead to you put in other people's opinions here? Do you use it as part of your social network, or do you just think of it as an "unreal world", and therefore of no importance??

The reason I ask this is that recently I have noticed several contradictory comments about this, and it is confusing..

One moment, someone is posting a thread, looking for advice/input, etc, and the next (usually if the OP gets a comment made not agreeing with them), dissing that person, and saying that it doesnt matter anyway what that person thinks, as they have never physcially met them in "real life" and therefore their opinion is irrelevant..

I personally find it an interesting and informative medium for getting to know other people. It doesnt matter to me if I never meet them in the physical sense; their opinion is just as interesting, even if I dont necessarily agree with it..

Are we a community here, or not? Either other members' opinions matter, or they dont. You cant be selective!

What do you think?

For me it is all virtual.....I dont pay much attention at the best of times.....let's just say I take it with a grain of salt....people walk in and out of my life every day of the week...why would CS be any different....conversing

Of course, posts will be contradictory at times. Often there is the awareness that this is a PUBLIC Forums ("goldfish bowl") and there is also an intention to appear popular, i.e. nice, caring, etc. Sometimes that is forgotten, and egos take over with the need to express oneself and be listened to, taken notice off, regardless of the approach felt needed to do so. Human beings are fickle creatures in RL and its no different here, hence the sycophancy abound at times.....

That said, yes, I do believe a community exists here. Over time we get to know others and are able to determine honesty and sincerity from the "created" personas, are we not?

I am happy to say that I have met some very genuine folk on this site with whom I still remain in contact with and I am fortunate they are friends I regard as very special indeed.

And I love each and every one of them.... so I have gained more than I have lost. Therefore, I still maintain it was better to have come across this site than not........

Besides, I met the most wonderful man..... smitten

(And, yes.... you CAN be selective!).
