Of course they can...It's just doesn't look like what we think it does....
Thank god I love my dog because she's not obedient..she's bratty...she's unpredictable....she's kinda chunky...she drives me insane with her incessant barking...she won't listen sometimes...her playtime has to be when she wants it...she wakes me up in the middle of the night to go pee depriving of sleep half the time....but at the same time she's goofy and she makes me laugh everyday....and I don't think you could find a better pair who are sooo much alike...but love each other regardless because that's what dogs and animal lovers do...BUT at the same time...there is probably nobody else who wants to put up with us...

i you wake her every time you have get up to go pee maybe you will break her of that habit, the rest your on your own

Of course you can and that is what I practice! That is why none of the women here on CS....or anywhere for that matter, disappoint me! To love someone without any expectation's is the strongest form of love you can give! imo

Cheating... I could probably get over as a one off... deliberate cruelty or lying are 2 things I couldn´t forgive and would make me stop loving a person.

Loving someone...doesn't mean it's ok for them to hurt you...you can still love someone and not like what they did...choose not to be with them because they overstepped their bounds....but it doesn't mean you love them any less...you just refuse to let someone you love treat you in an unloving wayyyyyyy....

Get a dictionary! To love without expectation is completely different than to love unconditionally. To love unconditionally is to love in spite of any actions that person could do. I would still love my child if they killed someone... I wouldn´t continue to love any one else if they killed my child...

YesI would! But, I would not TRUST them and I would not LIKE them. I believe we should love one another, but we are not required to like each other.
I still love my ex-wife, but no way do I like or trust her.

That is why I said in my initial post that I do believe that people are capable of unconditional love when it comes to their children... but not so much with anyone else.

Totally agree JB, for me it is only solid between family, as it should be. Outside of that, achieving it with a stranger is extreemly rare. Our expectationsand desires are so so high these days, and tolerance levels so low.
But most of us are programmed to continue the quest, finding that elusive Holy Grail of unconditional love.
