Have you done any research regarding which area of the U.S.A. that you might like to establish residence? The Austin, Texas area might be to your liking.

If you're looking to go there to study, let me recommend that you check the INS website for some really good information in terms of student visas.

Also, make sure you have some financial backing. There are scholarships available, esp. for science/engineering students, but competition is stiff and you will most probably not get a stipend to defray living costs. You'll need a car, car insurance, etc. and you've gotta have some dough to pay for that.

Look at some of the Universities that you'd like to attend and get information from them directly. The administrators at the Uni deal with foreign students all the time and they're probably your best resource.

Listen to skubadiva, she really knows what she's talking about.
Oh and Vermont????confused Employment options may be somewhat limited in VT. You'll need to secure a part time job to live on unless your lady friend will support you.

Maybe you should come here for a visit first and travel around the US a bit.
