My mother has got into the habit of letting out blood-curdling screams!

What should I do?

Should I get 'ear defenders' or maybe call a horse doctor?

dunno

my grand mother was doing this same thing
no one knew what to do , we called the doctors
thy give her something to calm her but that mad things more bad
i saw when people came to see her , she stayed calm
she just NEEDED company , not to put her in front of the TV .
she NEEDED some one to be with her at ALL times
she was 97 years old but she was like 4 years old
i guess when thy are that age thy go back to being like kids again
kids need someone with them ,so do the older people
i know it is hard to see the people you love grow old .
you be with her keep her happy .
she may not last much longer .
i would read her the news papper to her
or even sing to her
have other people come see her
show the kids to be with her to
and always tell her you love her

What a lovely message, Coca.
I agree with this, Rusty. It's not easy to deal with, but I'm sure you know that she isn't doing this intentionally...she can't help it, for whatever reason. It was one year ago yesterday that I lost my father. I'd love nothing more than to hear him scream right now. hug

My dad died a few months ago - I'd looked after them both for 30 months and had had enough.......... now I've been back since September (left in June) and I'm getting older every day.... of course I love my mother, but I really hate Sundays... the carers come in early and leave early and I feel totally trapped.

I know I am doing this voluntarily, but sometimes I feel like screaming too!

Believe me, I do understand. It's very hard. Allow yourself to step away when you need to. All you can do is your best, and you are doing just that. You do need to take care of yourself and your needs, as well....I get it, I really do.

Trouble is if I go away for 10 days whoever I employ to look after my mother never wants to do it ever again for love nor money...... running out of people who haven't emmigrated on the used illegal immigrant boats back to Libya or wherever rather than ever set foot here again! moping
