Raven0: I've heard that the drug champex works really well.
Thanks, Raven, I'll ask her about that one as well.
My parents are also going to try and quit so any info that I can pass onto them is greatly appreciated.

At my job I would get alot of people telling me about quitting, and how much they found that drug champex worked.
I don't know myself, I'm not ready yet.

Deserteagle: My question is what cigs have less nicotine? I smoke Marlboro reds.

I made it most of the day so far with only a few but it wasn't easy. Honestly wish they would just outlaw them all-together or regulate them through the FDA.

They list it on the packs so you can browse if they will let you get that close to them..

So you're paying over $10 a pack? Have you ever considered RYO? I buy a pound of tobacco (Gambler brand) and a 5 carton bundle of tubes. A pound of tobacco will yeild about 2 and a half cartons on average and the cost per carton this way is roughly $13 (a little over a buck per pack.) I can inject (make) a pack of cigarettes in about 15 minutes, which is about the average time it would take to run to a store to buy a pack.
Although I only make a pack for whenever I go out somewhere, otherwise, I just inject a ciggie when I want one while at home.

RDM59: That's an excellent post Dan, I have never tried to quite yet but it has been entering my mind more, certainly cutting down radically and having more control would be a good I thing for me.

Cheers

Good deal! You'd feel a lot better..

I probably tried and failed a half dozen times. I felt completely hopeless until I tried this program.

I really believe that if I can do it anyone can..

Good luck!

Oh, I stopped buy by the pack awhile ago.
totally ryo
I try to only roll when I need one though.
It's still expensive here, esp. after the price increase.
What I used to get for about 52 is now 78.

Being too expensive is the reason why I'm trying to quit. That, and I don't subscribe to having being punished (because I smoke) with all this segregated overtaxation with tobacco. I think it's absolutely wrong to target specific commodities.

druidess6308: Congratulations, and I'm glad it worked for you. I have invested in lobelia and a liver detox tea that contains many of the herbs recommended for quitting smoking, and am now trying to find mimosa tea locally for the mood swings. I was doing good at quitting during my last attempt until I developed an allergic reaction to the patch adhesive. Even without the patch, I was doing good on fighting the nicotine cravings and not really wanting to smoke...until I went manic. I am bipolar, but haven't had a manic episode in so long, I'd forgotten what they feel like. That derailed me. I'm seeking the herbs to deal with that so that I stop having meltdowns, and steeling myself for the emotional fallout again. I'll be giving it another go very soon. I really do want to quit, but that emotional stuff was too much.

OK, without going into too much detail because it would take a longer explanation than most of you would want to read, this is no longer an issue for me. I had an interesting healing session, and am no longer bipolar. It wasn't chemical for me, but a reaction to feeling that my emotions weren't okay, and thereby they stressed me too much for me to handle, and created the swings that mimicked bipolar disorder. So, with that healed, I feel an inner peace I've never felt in my life, and no longer have the desire to smoke. I just don't need them any more to suppress my emotions and deal with stress. So...it's different for all of us as to what works. I wish for all of the smokers out there to find what works for them when they're ready to quit this addiction that controls their lives.

Over $10 for most brands.
Some are at 12.25

WOW! Lets see..

I used to go through 3 packs a day. At today's prices:

3 @ $12.50 = $37.50 times 30 days = $1125.00 per month!!!

My mortgage payment is less than that!

Good God! thats $13,500 a year!

What would you do with an extra grand a month?

Mine is a lot cheaper than that, but I'll do the math as to what I'm about to save per month.

I smoked a pack a day, $4.85 a pack, times 30 days equals $145.50 per month. That's $1,746.00 per year. That would get me a vacation each year to see my parents.

Ya got to keep in mind the tax on cigs are considerably different in Canada as per US. In the underground economy up here in the Great White Farther North, there are options like cross border shopping, friends of smugglers or another good source is the native population that have got a great tax free living deal going on.... I think it has something to do with the ancestors used to smuggle smokes and run casinos or somethingrolling on the floor laughing.

You're living near the tobacco belt so it's cheaper there as well. I made the mistake of trying to quite during a trip to South Carolina once and in Myrtle Beach they were giving out free samples on the beach. Go figure.

Yeah, I know. Although I haven't been to Canada since 1995, I do remember the differences in prices. We also have BM's here as well and I used to get cartons of Marlboro for $5 back when I lived in Toledo.
You're right, being near the tobacco belt does have its advantages. Prices are cheaper and most restaurants and local stores still allow smoking in them. It kinda makes it harder to quit! laugh

I think mine would be roughly 1/4th of that but still, that's money I could be using on something else.
