wildkitty: all in all quitting cold turkey is the worse thing people can do as it puts your body in shock. so its better to quit gradually..

Good luck

Dan: I've actually mentioned to a few people here about the method you described. They plan on trying it. Some people just can't do the 'cold turkey' method. Kudos for bringing this up.
jono7: well, i'm sitting in canada as we chat. $10.00/pack in vancouver. more at the hotels. ran out of cigarettes a few hours ago. i'm just gonna see how long i can put off going to the store. wish me luck.
Good luck Jojo.

Congrats brother! Keep the faith. I used the patch for a 2 week period as a jump start. After that I've been running on desire to quit. It's now been 4 weeks and 3 days without a smoke and like I've heard others say, If I Can Do It Anyone Can Do It!

Just a slight correction.. The cigarette manufacturers have been keeping their costs considerably low. The majority of the cost per pack is due to governmental tax gouging.
Raven0: I've heard that the drug champex works really well.
Hiya Raven! Yeah, Chantex works REALLY well. I smoked for 50+ years. Tried quitting numerous times; nothing worked. Tried Chantex and have been off for about 6 months now. Fantastic product and I HIGHLY recommend for anyone who seriously wants to quit. You have to use for 3 to 4 months, but it reduces the cravings to a managable level. Worked for me and I wasn't sure anything ever would.

I have heard a few people say how great Chantex is working for them. Good to know.
YouMeUs. Well. My update. I crashed and went to the store for smokes. But I took Dan's advice and bought a lighter brand and am keeping track of when/why. I'm going to try reducing the nicotine over a couple weeks. I did try Champex last year (a friend had great success with it), but I was allergic to it.

Jono, you're doing great!
I think you said your cut off date was May 23rd?
We're all rooting for you. Just think how good life will be as a non-smoker. And if you ever have a weak moment and think about smoking again, just ask yourself, if it is such a good idea, why did you go through so much to quit?
