bosmike: Taino,
And by your own admission, Bush wasn't well liked by many, and that isn't racial, but if someone doesn't like Obama, it must be racial? Hmmmmm, I smell a double standard, especially seeing that Obama is arguably THE most inexperienced, ill-prepared Presidential nominee EVER in the history of America, so maybe being black HELPED him become elected.

Good point. I agree.

I really suspect Obama's race did help him get elected with those liberals that carry a guilty conscience and also need to perceive themselves as 'hip'.

BTW, how do you manage living there in Massachusetts, thinking clearly like you do, and coping with representation by Barney Frank, Ted Kennedy, and John Kerry?

I guess you have great coping skills Bosmike.

Obama would still saturate the site. It is his back ground we question. He is young and his wife is hot. Two young children in the White House again. It has nothing to do with the blood line.

I don't think his race had anything to do with him being elected... I think Charles Manson could have beaten McCain because how the media viewed the republican party.

he did often talk of his white side. I think why he really won was because many republicans felt abandon by their party... hence the creation of the Tea Parties.

I reckon a debate on USA politics and gun laws are truly better debated amongst American Citizens themselves..

I take an interest whats going on in your country as Australia are united on the war front and our countries are united foreverthumbs up

As far as us foreigners debating on your gun laws it will always be a heated debate as I live in a culture thats so foreign to what you peeps have as far as rights and your ways of laws for guns ect

I dont mind jumping on these kind of threads but just want all you Americans to always keep in mind when I give an opinion thats all it will ever be and nothing more or lesscheering

I will never ever claim to be right in anything I have an opinion onthumbs up cheering

I don't propose myself as an expert. However, I live amongst, work with, socialize with and talk to people from and in various parts of the world. I work in a very interational workplace, probably more than 90% are other than American or North American. I have traveled widely and lived in various countries. The media I get hear and read is broadbased, not just the American viewpoint.

You aren't popping my bubble. I understand that some people choose ignorance over knowledge...It comes as no surprise. I am giving my opinion based on my observations, direct observation. Take it in any way you like, as you would anyone else's opinion.[/quote}barf

tainogirl: Now here's an intersting post. Are you saying that the US in not evolving? And another thing I live in a country where the majority of people fall into two races:
People of African descent
People of Indian descent(by Indian I mean from Asia)
All other races are the minority including Caucasians

Now we have had people of both the Majority races as our Prime Ministers. The people who form the Majority have the majority of votes therefore these votes decide who gets elected. I'm going to venture a guess here to say that reason you don't see many black countries in Africa voting for White leaders could be because if they even exist in those country they are probably in the minority. Either way you still have to convince the people with the majority of the votes to vote for you.

What is this fair hearing that you feel Mr. Bush did not get? From what I've been able to gather the man as President was just not very well liked by many.
Hello Taino, I'm responding to Amelia's red herring about America. In the U.S. media, the % of liberal/left commentators runs in the 80-90% range at most of the major networks and newspapers. Many of these commentators are against any conservative who runs for office, and bias their reports accordingly. While none of us agree with all of the decisions that he made, it is a tough job to take on-especially after 9/11. Contrast that with the flowery, uncritical, knee-jerk praise that B Obama recieves from them and you will see what I mean.

tainogirl: I'm hoping this thread will spark some interesting 'DEBATE' as opposed to the usual bickering I usually see in any thread that seems to have Obama's name in it. I came across this article in newsweek online. In a nutshell it was asking whether with the economy being in bad shape and a black(mulatto) in the white house whether there would be a rise in activities from extremist groups. What are your opinions? Here is the link:

It seems to me that extremist groups like this will always exist, for there will ALWAYS be ignorant people, no matter where you go on the planet Earth, no matter how far into the future or past you travel.

I, as an American, remember how tense the latest presidential election was, and I wasn't even a fan of the "mainstream" candidates (you'll see why I might say that in a moment). But given that very VERY high level of tension felt by Americans during that election, combined with the fact that more and more US citizens are starting to finally become politically involved, it would have been inevitable for extremist-styled groups to be created had McCain won the election instead of Obama.

On top of ALL of that you have to keep in mind that, had anyone paid close attention since the beginning of the election (and I'm VERY sure some of you did), the media closely regulated which candidates people were exposed to and heavily kept radical underdog candidates out of important debates, which in turn doesn't choose who you vote for but narrows it down to a very small list. For instance: how many people were even aware that Gravel, Kucinich, or Paul were even running?

I'm starting to rant, so I'll stop here, but I hope I got my point across beer

-Don't be paranoid, just be earnestly observant and painfully aware of the possibilities-
