I have been in Denver about two years now...hard for me to meet people. Even friends..and I'm very nice. I like talking on e-mail, it seems easier to get to know someone. What I would like to know is, are their ANY success stories from meeting at a distance? thanks..

I met one lady, she moved in with me from Visalia, Ca and moved out, so out of state relationships, don't cut it for me.

Yes, had one success...we didnt stay together though...only problem if people dont dare to be themselves but try to lie to be somebody else...but this could have happend even if you were in a non-long distance relationship...you never know until you actually have dated the person for some time. Long distance cannot continue forever though...
If you would base it on only a long distance relationship - take your time before getting engaged - plus it really requires you both to be totally honest with each other - dont share only your positive character traits! professor

Advantage of long distance...you usually get to know what people are thinking if they dare to be straight forward. You usually become friends with the guy/girl first...which I find important. When you want a soul mate its so so important to be friends first. Thats whats really gonna keep you together in the long run.

Wish you all the best, wine

Yes i believe it can work.....I have met someone in another state...a good 3 hours away from me. I think when you go into it with the mindset that one of you has to be willing to move, there is no problem....the great advantage of being in a distance relationship, is you get to cut thru all the B.S about dating who do you care about inpressing....be open, honest and fall in love with the real person....if its right it will all fall exactly where it is meant to be......Good Luck, I found mine and Ronnie is the best thing that ever has happened to me....dancing

It can work....

It is not easy....

You both have to trust first and formost

You both have to be honest...

You both have to communicate...

You need to set goals....and stick by them :)

It is not easy.....

Webcams can help ;)

It takes work

It takes effort

It takes patience....more so than in a local relationship

You have to be independant.....

Do not hide your feelings, good or bad....

Did I mention it takes work? grin

The sad thing is, when people find out how much effort it does take....they give up....but that's a chance you take with any relationship, long distance or not.

The most difficult and hateful problems can be solved when people break thorugh their barriers seperating them to listen and hear one another, to connect with each other's essential humanity.

Wow....THANK-YOU ALL...can't tell you how much I appreciate the support and feedback..and sharing...
The first time I ever put anything on a forum..

I have been struggling...and feeling foolish...I am way too romantic for my own good...I like the slow conversation that happen at a distance...when the real person shows up..them and I.

I have tried the long distance dating , and have had some success. I really think it depends on the people involved. It is easier to know some one on here before you meet , really does take away any awkwardness. I am a bit shy too maybe that is why i feel this way. It is kinda fun to email and chat with someone who is not in your home town,or whatever, but a true lasting relationship comes from closeness, really do not get that from someone 1000 miles away, what you do get is something that could lead to something better, you get a friend, and lets face it outward beauty fades in time.

Hi justme,
You're right that outward beauty does fade with time. I have been doing a 3,000 mile/two country long distance thing for 9 years. As far as the closeness goes I have never been closer to anyone before in my life even though we have gone two full years without seeing each other. It makes the times that we are together very powerful.

It is a long story that will one day end happily everafter. I have to believe that.
