I love the foods, fruits, and vegetables that, just by their very appearance in the neighborhood markets, reminds me that summer is fast approaching. I went to my local market today and picked up some amazing avocadoes, cherries, and some great-looking oranges and tomatoes. I came home and had one of my favorite light lunches...some smoked salmon, sliced avodado, and lots of fresh lemon squeezed on top of it all. I topped it off with a handful of cherries, oh so perfect.

What are your favorite summer foods?

That sounded like a good meal, J!

I agree, I love the variety of fresh fruits and veggies available at this time of year. What I miss is living near the ocean where fresh seafood is also abundant at this time. sigh

I eat a lot of salads, tuna and salmon at this time of year, along with smoothies made with fresh fruits and veggies, and prepare dishes with fresh, organic herbs from my garden. wine

One of my favorite summertime activities is to spend the day at a beach, pop over to a seaside taverna for a nice lunch of Greek salad, grilled fish or calamari, lightly fried zucchini, and a glass of cold ouzo. Yum!

Oooooh, I love tomato sandwiches! We get some wonderful tomatoes here (they're not those grocery-store-gawd-awful hard crappy ones). I had one just 2 days ago, as a matter of fact. And will probably have one tomorrow. Love 'em!

I remember Easter, lamb roasted over a spit, tubs of feta, all the good stuff, fattening stuff. Who worried when we were kids?

So...you just dip them in the milk and then sprinkle on a little sugar before you refrigerate? Or, do you put them in a bowl and pour some of the milk over them? Is it the sweetened condensed milk or evaporated milk? I want to try it. I've always just sprinkled sugar on cut strawberries and let it sit in the fridge, without the milk.
