hey u never know, once u lean more about sailing, and ur confidence grows, and lean of all the precaution, options, and safety measures of being out on the big blue younder u probably won't see it as so daunting and might be chomping at the bit to get out there little by little increasing the distance of ur voyages until b4 u know it, ur off to the whit sundays, lady musgrave or any of the hundreds of places and islands to go see on the east coast of aust thumbs up

ohh and about that sydney to hobart race that bad year, the weather forecasts and predictions were there in black n white, b4 they left and well in advance giving them plenty of time and the option to hook it for home or stear clear of the treterious conditions. but think some brave/mad/blaze skippers seen the risky gamble of if we make it through the storm, the record could be smashed by a huge margin, and most likely stand 4 decades to come. they new what they were getting into and took the risk though

Well done Kizzy, I'm sure you wiil quickly realise that it is very easy to grasp the basics if sailing and when you get confidence, the fun really starts!!

I have been involved in sailing boats all my life, my last one was 35 feet, comfortable and safe. Unfortunately, the sailing conditions in the wast coast are often very tough, much wind and rough seas in summer, not many places to go. I've always envied Queenslanders their marvellous sailing areas and almost moved there.

I'd be there with you in a flash to help you get started (in sailing!), but I'm in hot and steamy Jakarta at the moment.

Enjoy yourself and send regular reports od voyages (of all sorts).

Oh, and let the blokes come to you, only pick the one who know how to navigate properly!

Ah Kizzy now you are talking. JB, the place where we regularly sank the ships of the RAN on exercises. Mind you most of my time there was at night and under the water, but we did do some day dives as well. Lots of fish (we used to use explosives) and heaps of those grey coated gentlemen. so dont fall over the side.
Love sailing and am currently busy building a small sailing dinghy, maybe we can dod a double cruise rather like a double date lol

You are going to have a ball with that. Its really quite easy to pick up. Hardest part in my opinion is learning to sail up wind and its not that hard really.

You really are getting into this pirate theme lol. Dont forget to buy yourself a parot for your shoulder. I wouldnt recommend a peg leg but it would really add to the theme...
