petalbabe: It was said earlier on on this thread by someone that "all the best people are so far away..sigh ", and I replied that that is said alot on here from people all around the world..in which case, Where IS the place to be??

I am absolutely certain, in my own mind, that distance CAN be used as an excuse to make it real..no doubt at all..

Meant to say.."used as an excuse NOT to make it real"..

Apologies for typo..doh

This question cropped up in the uk forums on
pof. Almost every response rejected the idea
of a ldr. Maybe with a country as densely
populated as the uk, it just isnt necessary.

dunno

We certainly do! hug teddybear

I just think that sometimes people are more 'comfortable' with the 'fantasy' they get of the person they're communicating with via the internet. Perhaps sometimes to the extent that they're fearful of what that person might actually look, act, sound like in person. dunno

Agree'd, but just to add, sometimes they may be afraid of how they seem to appear to that person as well. However, to that I would say, they need to get over their insecurities if they plan to make any relationship work whether it be an LDR or not.

sweetowen: I think some may use the distance as an excuse, Ambrose. While they claim to really like the person & want to meet them, they use the distance as a stumbling block, when they have the means to overcome it.

I very much agree with this and i suspect that some people actually look for long distance relationships because its so much easier to be a player then and use the distance as an excuse ....and then disappear before actually meeting up ......one has to be careful of course having said this there are many people who genuinely fall for each other and they live at a distance and who do succeed in making it work .....i think there are several examples on cs .............

"If your not willign to work, you don't deserve the reward"

Thats how I view it, if you cna't deal with at least 50 miles of distance, sorry, but you need to start looking elsewhere or stick to local.

I have had a few relationships in the past, each never lasted because the girl was too immature to handle a few miles.

There definitely are. They are the ones who genuinely WANTED it to work & worked at meeting each other. If you have one person who really wants to meet & another who says they do, but always have one reason or another why they can't... don't ignore the warning signs.
