So has anyone here ever had a stall at markets? or goes regularly to them?

Im gearing up for one of the biggest swap meets in qld next month , held at nambour , mostly car parts , but there is always bric a brac and collectables there , mostly over priced ( wasnt like this 10 years ago ) , but always good to have a browse through..

I'll be camping , usually hits about 2 deg , but will have a fire and a bit of booze to help keep me warm , sleep is optional , but usually you get an hour or 2 or more...

For me , its the atmosphere there , a weekend escape from here, kinda like camping , but with a heap more people around you , and no swimming.

I know of someone who does garage sales , then resells at markets and makes a tidy profit.. maybe you could turn your bargain shopping into a little bit of extra cash on the side

I actually was buying baby clothes and reselling them on ebay for about 6 months and made a good profit. Been out of it for a while now though.

I would buy the pumpkin patch, oshkosh brands good brands and resell them.

hey Tina.. would you mind expanding a bit.. how did the telly get damaged by Wii.. was thinking of getting one ..for the fitness side of course blushing nothing to do with the games..

and give me (if you dont mind) then benefit of your collective wisdom in the decision to buy one brand ie XBOX360 in lieu of Wii

Thanks in advance
cheers

I havent done the market stall thing..but like Tina I have done the eBay thing.. mine was books.. a tidy profit can be made in buying and on-selling books at the right price.

In a past life, I used to sell childrens clothes that I made at home at the markets. Shortie was a baby, and 'he' used to bring her down for a feed about 6am, was bl**dy cold in winter.

I did the ones at Logan and then when we moved to SA I did some in the hills.

Used to love it and made some good money, loads of hard work though.

My girlfriend of the 1980s and early 1990s decided we should open a cake stall at the Sunday Rapid Creek Darwin Markets. She like my cooking and thought we would make a killing with things like Carrot Cake and Bannana Loaf. So I baked up a storm and iced the cakes ... I was Labour, she was Marketing.

I finished setting up to find that she was selling so fast that we would be out of stock in a couple of hours. Then I saw why. She was selling Carrot Cake at $2.00 a wedge. The trouble was without taking into account labour and electricity the Carrot Cake was costing $4.20 a wedge to make.

She was and as far as I know still is a very talented university educated special education teacher and administrator. They obviously don't do cost and bottom line calculation education in those courses.
