Jun 24, 2009 5:38 PM CST The Wearing Of The "Burka"
I Have been watching with interest over the last few days, how France's President has taken up this issue !

I have a lot of admiration for him raising this debate conversing I wonder what the outcome will be?

Now i know its late, but i was wondering what people thought about the Burka? wave

It's a cultural thing.

I always associate it with oppression of women. But then I only know what I see on TV so I guess I am not really qualified to give an opinion.

If it's a cultural or religious thing, each to there own. But definitely wouldn't like to have to wear one myself.

Let's hope Biffo doesn't get anymore mad ideas rolling on the floor laughing rolling on the floor laughing rolling on the floor laughing

I do feel that a debate about the wearing of the Burka is a good thing, however I feel that an outright ban on wearing them in public is wrong. Some woman wear them by choice and they should have that right.

It is seen as a religious thing, although the Koran does not state that it is compulsory, rather that both men and women should dress modestly when in public.

It was long the tradition that a woman cover her head when going to a catholic mass, should Countries that are not Catholic have banned that?

Well to be honest if they are living in a different country. they should show respect to that country. Its a very delicate matter tho religion, thats all everyone will say. its out religion and culture but to be honest and this isnt being disrespectfull to ones religion but what kind of god truly wants its women covered in head to toe...bizzare if you ask me but then again religion is a dodgy subject. jmo

I know where you are coming from hun but as I have said there are some women who wear them by choice. I think it is wrong to force them to wear them but equally as wrong to tell them they cant. w
