As Mrs O Brien back in the day said, "Hess, you are well able to summarise."
Basically, PB isn't privy to Irish men.
Then for some reason got bashed for being half English.
Both sides of the argument in my opinion (I'm always right haha) were wrong.
Both sides refuse to let it lie.

The end.

Veritas et Aequitas.

To be fair, if it was directed at me then I am kind of fussed.
As I do love myself, as everyone rightly should...

But if not, then party on!

I have a very live and let live attitude on this one. To each his own. There are oppressed women in every culture and I don't think it's up to a particular government to police what women wear. When I worked in the health service I met many Muslim women who were doctors and anaesthetists who by personal choice wore the burka. These were strong educated women who wanted to abide by their traditions.
On a slightly different subject...Last year the entire teaching staff ot the Northside Muslim school here in Dublin walked out due to appalling conditions for both staff and pupils. The Department Of Education And Science just laid down guidelines but gave no help in the setting up and running of the school. They were more or less just left to get on with it. This is one area I think government should work together with ethnic minorities to raise the standards of education and living.

I am glad he is doing this. How come you don't see the men covered?. Last summer I was in Paris and I saw a muslim family queueing with me to go up the Eiffel Tower. The wife of the family was dressed in full Burqa even though it was 24 degrees. I was shocked that people did this in very hot weather. I also agree with Conrad that when they live in our country they live by our rules. I lived 8 years in the middle east and I had to live by their rules. If you don't like how we do things in the west then F off back to where you came from. We never forced you to stay in our country but if you do you live by our rules. I have seen people with one hand because the other hand was cut off because they were convicted of being a thief.

I was looking forward to reading this thread but as usual ya always get one.
Whats that saying, " Don't argue with a fool, the only outcome is, you have won an argument with a fool"

Back to the Burka

I would not be in favor of the burka. I think it is ridiculous actually and would have it banned. However, isn't that like saying the kilt should be banned. Now I see the difference but if someone CHOOSES to wear something I don't think anyone has the right to tell them that they cannot. It is only when it is forced on someone that there is a problem. I think it is being forced more often than not, what woman in her right mind wants to put that thing on.
