Zeelander: also, state jobs don't produce revenue, just cost tax dollars.
excuse me do you even know what you are talking about half the time... people give you things he has done and being a miserable cynic, or maybe devil's advocate, you automatically rebuff what is said... state jobs do bring revenue, any job does... the people that work for state need to pay to live in the state and they pay for stuff too... maybe you should move to new hampshire... you might have a better outlook on life if you were actually happy with your life... you asked a simple question..and I gave my opinion... backed with facts.. if you don't like it then don't start threads like this... look online or watch the news. things are slowly getting better.. It took us time to get into this mess and it will take time to get out of this..

Do you bother to do your own research? Or do you just repeat what others have told you as far as facts?

Local, state and federal government jobs are all paid out of tax revenue. Tax revenue is taken from earned income in the private sector. Employment in the government sector beyond 10% of the total workforce becomes burdensome to the private sector supporting it and has a negative impact on the private sector which exceeds any benifit from government employment above 10%. Econ 101
I don't need to see numbers..i see the looks on faces when people i know and myself included can take a paycheck home because of the money that has been put into this economy... the look on my children's faces when i can buy them a birthday present or take my kids to the beach for the day... so shove your numbers...they go up and down all the time.. I look at my friends and children's faces and the smiles I see and the fact that my friends who had lost their jobs because of bush can start to pay their homes again because of obama.. if you are not seeing things happen in your state talk to your state reps and have them get it for you... i am done with his thread... have a nice night all...

Yikes... too smart for me.... I just look up graph and statistics.
Zeelander: Being from Michigan, I have a lot of friends who once worked for GM and now are unemployed. Hopefully they can get their jobs back with the new GM.
Unfortunate, particularly when it is close to home. However, we have gone through this throughout the manufacturing, farm and steel sectors with no return to prior employment levels.

come on, he has had to do at least one thing right.
Gov't employment continues to be the only segment of the economy that is consistantly adding jobs. Too bad it adds nothing to the real GDP.
