In Sweden....? Absolutely! The men here should always hold doors open for women and pull out the chairs for them etc. (if they want to make complete arseholes of themselves!).
In response to: Pull out a chair for a lady, hold the door for a woman, place the hand on the small of the woman's back as they walk along, open car doors for a lady? Or do some think this belongs in another era back when men rode horses and ladies wore petticoats. I have found that a lot of younger men here no longer do these things, its not behaviour that seems to passed down to them. What about the older generation of men do they still feel a need to do this kind of stuff? Do women still appreciate having them done? Comments please.

That depends... If I'm in my everyday wear or my disguise... No... If I'm in my formal outfit... Yes... Also depends if the woman wants me to do this as well... Most women I date don't... Some do... Except when I'm in my formal outfit they all expect it...

Yes, I certainly appreciate it and never take it for granted. If a man holds a door open for me, I will flash him a smile. I have raised my son to be that way too. My own father is a true gentleman.

Sommerauer71: I'll swish my skirt and kick my leg out so you can have a glimpse of some thigh. Only a little though, being in public and all that..
I'm old school also, do the whole chivalry bit, not just for the ladies but the older folks also, like giving up seats on the bus or helping with bags, lugage etc. But if you offer to carry someones bag these days most will think twice in case you do a runner with it Think I would draw the line at putting my coat down over a puddle for a lady, but would offer a piggy back instead.
Well golfers above, are you looking forward to the next 2 weeks of British golf starting tomorrow at Loch Lomond with the Scottish Open.
One great thing about being self employed at home is having the TV on for that sort of treat..... Enjoy
