Mmmmmmmm... daydream

I never cooked crab legs or anything of this sort at home.

Have to try it too.

How is your weight-control going Owen?

I also find it harder to maintain lately...

Good luck rose

sweetowen: Thanks Snuggs! I've been trying to watch my carb intake. Unfortunately, I'm a huge bread & pasta eater.

Hi sweetowen, I commiserate. Lots of good advice given already.

Just want to add that bread and pasta as yummy as it is, I should know, being Italian, is only starch which converts to suger.

So eating a large bowl of pasta = 1 cup of sugar (approx).

So just by cutting out all above, or at least only have 1/3 usual portion will make the fat drip off you.

There is something you can take to stop the starch to sugar conversion. It's called 'Phase2', made from white kidney beans. The CSIRO here in Australia recently did studies to confirm what the ancients already knew. So you have about 4 or 5 capsules 1/2 hr before a pasta/pizza meal, and the pasta doesn't end up on your hips or waistline.

You might also look up 'Syndrome X', which explains much more. Dr. Snadra Cabot, originally from Adelaide, Australia, has written much about this, and how to deal with it.

The other very important thing to do is to hang up an item of clothing, the size you want to fit into, so you see it every day. Then keep trying it on...until it fits. The brain works wonders.

Oh, keep relaxed, and get to bed before midnight whenever you can. That's where I've been screwed lately, but back on track. Coz the body otherwise produces lots of stress hormones, plus excess cortisol, which cause a waman to have nasty physical effects, including pains, and bloating, and poor metabolism. Men get off scot free, doesn't happen with them.

All the best, and yes, buy a set of good digital scales for regular 'feedback'. I have about 12lbs to lose in the next 6 weeks before I get to my skinny cousins in Tuscany!

Do you have a rice steamer? Sam's Club has big burlap bags of Basmati rice. You can steam it and put it in the fridge and then mix it with other things later on. (curry, spanish rice, red beans, Chinese food, fried rice) Also, giant salads for lunch every day did not make me much thinner, but it did flush out my skin like crazy. Every time I went on salad, my face broke out like mad, but it's probably a good thing.

This may be a little extreme for some people, but I did a lifestyle change. I became a veggie and started drinking green smoothies all through out the day. The ket is to keep a balanced diet even witht he green smoothies. Don't eat too many of the same veggies (or anything else for that matter). Do somer esearch on what foods have what vitamins and come up with a balanced diet. The first two weeks I started drinking the green smoothies, (I was still eating food too, healthy of course) I lost 10 pounds. Make sure you eat a little fat each day, you need to make sure you have enough calories to lose the weight healthy and not just losing it so fast you turn into a toothpick. Eating a raw food diet, no meat, all healthy and balanced does wonders. I love eating this way so much because it gives me so much energy, my mind is so focused I decided to do this for the rest of my life. And with the green smoothies, much cheaper than actually cooking meals. I spent $60 on produce for all my green smoothies and it all lasted a whole month. Granted I get most of the produce from a produce stand (much cheaper that way, and healthier), but whatever the stand didn't have I bought at either BJ's or the grocery store. Of course I researched food for 2 years before making this move, but it was oh so worth the wait and effort to do the research the right way.

Good Luck.

Maiwyn

Forgot this, sweetowen. I have 2 of these belly dance dvd's. I love using them, now quite furiously. Joining a class is great fun, too. I did that a few years ago. And the costumes are so sensual. I took some bellydance music/gear along on my work trip to Maryland, U.S. in '99. The doctor and his P.A. and I had a crazy time on my last night there! He wore his sheik's outfit he'd bought in Dubai. His wife was out that night so he felt safe to take it out of the closet!

Awesome job Owen! Way to go!

I too been on a diet, although mine was unintentional and have lost close to 20lbs. Working on losing 20 more myself. Some reason my metabolism has sped up like a race car and I can practically eat what i want and still lose about 3 lbs a month. laugh Would love to know how much I'd lose if I exercised and/or watched what i ate.

I hope it was in a good way! Good luck on losing the rest! And yes, I also wonder how much I'd lose if I exercised more.
