Take off the hat so we can see your halo.
I bet knowing you that the list is actually longer!
morgan5: yes it is but i think we all like to believe we are, but it's not until its tested in a practical sense that we really know how far we would go to help someone we don't know or like jmo
True.
We can talk until the cows come home about being this, that or the other. It's quite different when we are put to the test.
SlyIrish: Definition of the Free Dictionary (by Farlex)
"compassion Noun a feeling of distress and pity for the suffering or misfortune of another"
How much of it do you have?
Just for people you call your friends?
Or do you feel compassion for people you don't like much as well when they fall on hard times?
Or do you, perhaps, laugh behind their backs, or mock them?
Is that something that makes you feel better for yourself?
How compassionate are you?
Compassion is painful. When looking at someone I can see it and feel it. One of the reasons I'm behind the computer these days. I do my best to help when needed, if I want to or not. I will always do my best to do the right thing. Last week, I was overwhelmed with doing things for others and my friend told me to do something for myself between helping. I did and I felt better about myself for doing so.
I find myself somewhat "less" compassionate than I used to be. The reason being is I got tired of being "used". I had to come to the realization that some just don't want anyone's compassion. They would rather make everyone around them miserable and/or just to stay in the pigpen with the muck and mire. Thus, enjoying the wallowing. But let me find a sincere, humble-hearted person deprived of compassion and I'm there with open arms.
Saying you have compassion doesn't prove anything. I judge a person by their actions and not their words on a subject like this. What have you done today, this week, or this month that you believe is right?
Other than doing something for yourself, what have to actually done for another person? That is how I would judge this subject.

Do you want the truth? I do not want to say what I did today. It was a good thing and that is all. I counted my blessings. I gave. What else do you want to know?
If you are a true human being, the feelings of others who are suffering will have to come to your mind. However the most important thing is how much you can do to alleviate the distress of the casualty.Being like the bibilical good samaritan is the most important thing. For example, if while driving along the road you find a person on a motor vehicle accident and you doesnt stop to find whether they need help, even if you feel for him,and do not take action, does it matter?I guess you are equally like the person who passed and never bothered. They say, action speak louder than words.:

I am compassionate to a fault or else I would explode in anger, hurt ,betrayal. One of the only ways I can react is to have compassion, any other way is self destructive for me

not telling the truth is a lie in itself, isn't it?
