What do people do to help relieve stress? Do you have a special thing you do to destress when life gets too much or the bad things that happen become overwhelming?

Do you have a comfort food or drink you gravitate towards?
Do you like to go somewhere special?
Do you have any good books you can recommend to others that help you feel more positive about life?
Would you prefer to be around people or left alone?
Do you burn aromatherapy oils or incense, and if so which ones?
Is there anyone special in your life who always manages to make you feel better about things?

Pets are good for relieving stress. Though harder to keep one in the city moping

My family used to have a cat we called Rascal. My sister brought him home as a stray kitten in high school. He was so beautiful. I used to love having him lying on my chest while I patted him. He'd rub his nose up against my chin or cheek. At least till he'd start digging in the claws.

It was always nice and relaxing just to have that sense of caring for and acceptance from another creature.

Saddly he got skin cancer on his nose a few years ago, and died. But he was a great cat, and I miss him at times.

Right now I am on the laptop laying on the couch with no sound in my house at all. There is wind outside (which I really hate) so I can hear that swirling around. I am burning an oil burner with the scent "panache".. I have been sipping a Latte for about ten minutes and there is also some chocolate on the table next to me smitten Right now this is my kind of heaven.

Destressing for me?? I like to take a road trip out of town. Yesterday I went with a friend and we went to a town 45 mins away, went into a few shops, got a pizza and sat down the river in the sun. Was sooo nice laugh Taking myself or a friend out of town is always a winner for me if I need to escape anything.

I can't recommend a book as I only read the Twilight series or a random Mills and Boon help laugh

Love having moments on my own, I get the chance to do this alot if I wish, but I hate it and would rather be around people.

Chocolate, coffee, a good friend and a bit of laughter is always my remedy! teddybear

yeah animals are good to help relieve stress.. and yep you are so right... they dont judge and they love you unconditionally... that is always a good thing.. something a lot of humans are incapable of doing sadly sigh and that is so sad about your cat blues comfort

road trips are good!! and that one sounded great that you did lou.. funny how we seem to head to water when we need to find peace grin

and laughter.. yes... that is what I miss the most when I feel really down...I lose the ability to find fun and laughter in the most inanse silly everyday things like I do when I ma happy and feeling positive and not under stress

laughter has a way of lifting your spirit up higher and higher so any cares or concerns dont seem so bad

Escape to a place with water

jump in my car on my own, get out of the house and drive....

either to the beach and just walk or if raining, sit in the car & can watch the sea for hours

or to the a lake where i take bread and feed the swans & ducks

or to the river

Something about watching water is very therapeutic and always a calming effect.

Am lucky that i am not far from any of them and can even go to different beaches so doesnt ever get boring.

Another escape is just getting lost in my gardens, go into my own little world where no one bothers me

Just getting out of the house always helps.

well i usually take the boat out fishing on my own or something like that.
spend some time alone in the bush, take my binococulars n watch all, tha facinating little critters u come across.

or to really take my mind of things, take my dirtbike out for a spirited thrash to a track or the forestry, that one never fails, if ur mind isn't 100% on the job at hand u r bound to bite the dust. it gives u a adrenalin rush too, n usually get of the bike shaking thumbs up

I'd forgotten the way a good ride clears the head. Been so long since I've had a bike. Nothing like riding really well and pushing your limits. Such a buzz to get off and have the knees shaking and know you rode WELL.
