AsleepInNJ: do the choices we make in our life affect the end result or is everything pre-determined? is there such a thing as 'fate'? discuss.
I think that every choice we make has a ripple effect. So everything we do will alter our lives. If things were predetermined we would not have choices to make. We would just follow through without having to choose our mates, our careers, etc.
Fate is what happens. It is unpredictable as it cannot be measured or weighed. Being the right place at the right time for an event is fate.

sweet_saucy2008: If I were to go deeper into Catholisism I would have to believe that we have free choice therefore our lives are not predetermined. It is what it is. We can make our own choices to succeed and sacrifice.

RobertC2: just change your attitude. Attitude will change your negative belief system. Question yourself 'Why?' every time you make a negative statement about yourself - then change that negative into a positive.

That's the hard part!
Write down who you want to be and what characteristics you want to have.
I know, from scientific reports, that it is now known that we observe our own actions and yet feel helpless to change those actions.
Start off with little things. Analyse your own thoughts and just say to yourself out loud what you'd like to be when your thoughts are negative. Use positive words NOT negative ones.
Say: "I am confident, and I shall do 'x'"
NOT
"I am not scared, and I shall do 'x'"
A huge difference!
Your subconscious will work on the word 'confident' and make you confident but it shall, in the second example, only hear the word 'scared' and work on that instead of 'NOT scared'

As you are feeling fiesty tonight? I will set the record straight for you. Yes I was chillin' with my family, but aside for feeding myself and my granddaughter, I do not pick after, feed, or wash clothes for a man as you are inferring. Cows?? I would not know how to feed one much less milk one. In the city where I am from, you are not allowed to have farm animals. I do live in the country now. You question my desirablity, but it is not I who keeps crying over the pains you have with your mother. A true woman knows sacrifice and how to maintain herself. That is what makes you an asset.
