Yes I have...studied, looked and wondered...hence this post...I am trying to understand why we have a government and how we can improve our own government.

Without government you would have anarchy. Government is there to do the big jobs that the individual can't do like defend the country from aggression, enforce laws, mete out justice, take care of people too old, sick or poor to live. A country without a government is Somalia. I don't know anybody who would want to move there.

It's a necessary evil. Look to Somalia on the east coast of Africa to see what happens in the absense of any significant government.
I'd just like to be extremely wealthy and buy my own tropical island full of naked babes to live on and leave the rest of the "civilized world" behind.

There are places on Earth with little or no government. Somalia comes to mind. No why would I'd like to be like them.
Whether you call it government or not, certainly some form of leadership needs to exist to prevent chaos. Basically, someone needs to be in charge of ensuring everyone gets their fair share of common resources, especially when those resources are spread out over great distances.

If I wanted to get stinkin rich I sure wouldn't go into politics. The presidents salary is $400k a year. by comparison the CEO of American Italian Pasta Company (never heard of it huh?) makes $2,024,455 in total compensation. The CEO of Aflac made $10,783,232 in total compensation.
