i was on my first sun holiday when 9/11 happened. i was sitting in a restaurant in the algarve. the tv was up in front of us. couldnt believe it. i came home on the 16th. it was mental getting home. nobody was allowed in the airport at all until the time of our flight. there was thousands standing around in fields across from the airport. our flight was delayed by about 10 hours then. it was kind of scary though cos when we got on the plane the captain had a foreign accent and its just scared the life out of me. dont mean that to sound bad but started getting ideas in my head that the plane was hijacked. the last few days over there were so sad though. me and my friends had met a bunch of people from dublin and there were about 10 of us in the apartment constantly watching sky news to see updates on it. when i got home then i was reading newspaper clippings that i had missed during the week. one will always stand out "jump and die or stay and fry" that brought a tear to my eye when i read that heading.
I was in my old studio in limerick when my flatmate rang me asking if i was watching the news...he explained briefly what was going on. So I walked to the nearest pub (as you do) and just watched thinking WTF???
I was in a car when i heard on the raido that a aricraft had hit one of the twin towers at that stage they were saying it was an accident when i got home and my bro was watching it on tv it was just then that the second tower had got hit it was just so unreal i couldnt belive what was happening...
I was on the bus on the way home from school, I remember walking in the door and seeing the image on the television, it was like it was a movie or something - as if it wasn't real.
I was ironing and my ex was in bed after working nights. He had the telly on upstairs and shouted down to me to turn on the telly. I turned it on in time to see the second plane hit the tower. Unbelievable. May they rest in peace.
in a customers yard, when his dad rushed out shoutin.. "" come in to telly! your not gonna believe this""
remember thinking what an accident, and then we saw 2nd plane fly into tc 1..
we all thought same thing instantly..this is terrorism!!
i pray for the familys and those lost in the towers and those that tried and darred to help(nypd/fdny and rest)... R.I.P.
i remember vividly the hatred and sorrow that followed for next 3 yrs, however if any good can come out of all this is that the war and revelations in the mid-east has all taught us of the futility of an eye for an eye..and that wat is hell..
i see mid-east educated youths men an women marching and rising to seek freedoms we all take for granted... may the powers that be listen to their people on both sides of the pond, and may the power of people willing to talk/communicate/learn about each others cultures and traditions hold fast an strong through religious biggotry and government red-tape and bereaucracy!!
In response to: To remember all those who died I was in town buying a birthday present, what a terrible day!!!!

Yep and the Bush administration has to hold there hand up for not heeding the warning by Bin Laden himself and Vladimir Putin who spoke to Bush on the phone the day before the attacks sensing something was going to happen.
