Poor ol Tom died from a stab wound from a migrant...what an awesome story...thanx Kizzy!!kiss
kizzy27: OLD TOM & The Whales of two fold bay Eden Nsw
For over 100 year a pod of killer whales helped a family of fishermen catch whales on the nsw far suth coast .The whalers of twofold bay used to row out with a pod of wild killer whales and hunt whale for commercial processing they had a unique relationship where the whales helped one specific family , 3 generations, hunt whales The Orcas would come into the kwai river and splash to alert the family that the whales were coming they would lead the fishermen out then round them up so they could be Harpooned by hand spears
their reward was they could eat the tongue & lips of the whales and not be hunted themselves. If the mens boats were damaged or they were attacked by either whales or sharks the orcas would help them, even defend them
Old Tom was the last Killer whale of that pack when he died the whaling stopped his skeleton is still in the eden museum
STill to this day decendants of old tom visit Twofold bay & instictivley venture into the mouth of the Kwai river .

These day's it get's packed with tourists...back when i was a kid, and i lived there for a while when i was a teenager, it was quiet...blow's me away how things have changed in that small town...my pop's house is still there, and i absolutly love the fact i can still go there and stare at it! The house my pop built with own hands...If i had LOADS of cash i'd buy it back, it means that much to me...
bubblesron: Have to agree that it is an awesome town. Overnighted there in 1967, me and another sailor moving some dive gear to vic. Lovely place and great people, we had a ball. Only problem was that my girl got drunk and spewed, sort of a passion killer.

Shell225: Well we've got one here in Brissie too....

bloody awful to say the least. Everything is just white. I agree Kizzy its awful to drive in, the wind is horrendous. I had the aircon on, but it was taking the air from outside

So my blonde moment left me covered in dust.
Yeah I had to drive in it for work and I tried the circulate option hoping it wouldn't come in but it did and I could hardly breathe all day. I could taste dust all day and I couldn't even taste my lunch.
mmmm dust...yummybarf
Thankgod it is clear and sunny todayapplause

hi, i just got off the phone with my son-in-law in a little town in qld, he needed someone to talk to, as no one at home is talking to him at the moment. he was working at home in the yards with cattle when he noticed the dust storm coming in. now, my daughter had done the washing and hung it on the line, then had to go to town, which is some 50k away and would not be home for some time. now, he thought he would help out, so he went to the clothes line and took his clothes of the line, leaving his wife and daughter's clothes there to make sure that they dried properly, then in his haste to get back to work, he forgot to close the house up. i am sure that i don't have to tell you what the final results were, so now all he gets from wife and daughter is hot tongue and cold shoulder. now don't get the wrong idea, this is one great bloke that we talking about and a great hubby and dad who just had a momentary laps in consentration, poor bloke, quite an understandable mistake on his part. i am still laughing and probably will for the next week or two. ha ha ha ha ha ha rolling on the floor laughing rolling on the floor laughing rolling on the floor laughing rolling on the floor laughing rolling on the floor laughing rolling on the floor laughing cheering cheering cheering
