I moved here before 40 years because I got married. I am still here, because I feel great here.

Hello Rose

I wish I was as confident as you! Last one I met for a coffee spent 2 hours wringing his hands, he was so nervous. It was so bad I had to ask him if he was ok. Mind you, I am pretty scary!

Damn, shouldn't have said that, I'll never get a man now.

You don't look at all scary Maisie. I'm another one 'dumped' in Spain - I like the weather, but it was his dream much more than
mine. It's cheaper for me to be here than move back to the UK and have to work.

Well, I wasn't dumped here - I chose to move here on my own. I'm an Aries so quite impulsive and none of my friends and family thought I'd actually do it! Love living here, made some good friends and have no plans to move back to the UK. I've never been to Spain, not even on holiday, and it didn't appeal to me to try living there. Cyprus is very safe for a single woman, the crime rate is low and it's a great place to live. Would be even nicer with someone to share it with but ticks most of the boxes, can't have everything.

In response to: I moved to a man I loved, and stayed here because I am not really at home at my home country anymore and have nobody left there.

Hello explorador. This is my first time posting here so please be kind to me. cool

I moved here for the same reason, married a Swiss. In addition we decided that the whole social system was better here than in the US. I've been here 27 years now, am fully integrated, speak the language fluently practically accent free. I still think of myself as a US American who just happens to live in Switzerland. Have been alone 7 years now but when I go back to the US where my dad and 4 brothers live I don't feel completely at home anymore and my kids are here. It's a good place to live but there are too many clichees that people believe (i.e. just mountains, chocolate, watches and cow bells) and don't take time to find out more about the country.

Oh, by the way, am I still allowed to post here as this country still hasn't joined the EU? laugh
