This thread was inspired by a Turkey sandwich. No philosophy or literature.Promise.
I really love good bread.Something chewy and tough and substantial, from a straight whole-wheat to black forest rye.
Though I was raised on southerncornbread.
What kind of bread do you favor, and where can I get some?
And does anyone actually prefer Wonder[not to be confused with wonder-working]bread?
cool

A bread lover myself - as long as it isn't sweet.

Don't get me started on real butter, spreads and toppings.

Yummy.

Please tell more about these yummy sounding breads.
Are they ethnic or peculiar to your Land?
And Do go on about the spreads and toppings.Please.
For example:Here in the south Cornbread{white] implies beans and raw onion.

We are a breadloving rainbow nation I think and have a variety to choose from in most our supermarkets - from white, brown, wholewheat through to French, giabatta, Portuguese etc as well as rolls of all descriptions. My personal favourite is giabatta, real butter and liver patee - with tea.

Took the day off from cooking today - Sundays are big deals here as far as cooking goes - roast, three veg etc. Cooked only Beef potroast in a natural brown gravy served on white bread. Kids weren't impressed - unusual thing for me to do. It was delicious - for me anyway.

crusty sourdough is my favorite by far; on a cold winter day some clam chowder, sour dough bread and a beer or wine is awesome

I am German so lots of sweet breads with creams and butters were a big part of growing up. I only bake now for family get togethers, but the kids love the cinnamon rolls, rye bread, buns and anything else that has to do with bread. MMMMM MMMMM wink

I pick up a cinnamon bread with raisins and make french toast with it. It takes only two slices to tickle me.

I love bread and pastries but basically, bread...white bread, multi-grain bread, everything! we eat a lot of bread at my house. My sister-in-law told me once that people that eat a lot of bread is because they have intestinal parasites...gross! I don't have worms! innocent nor my children...

But we do love our daily bread... laugh

well...very regional and authoctonous from Panama: Pan de la Arena.
It is a small elongated, hard bread...it is delicious, with butter and coffee in the morning! dipped into the coffee! oh my gawd!

Another one is called "Moña"...for those from the south familiar with King Cake, is very similar, it looks like a thick braid and is not sweet. It has lots of eggs and the texture is so smooth...we also eat "rosca" which is the same thing as a "moña" only oval, like a large King's cake, but it is a salty bread, with a tiny sweet aftertaste...so, so, so good! I wait for Christmas every year just to be able to eat "Rosca" christmas happy

For some reason I had a bit of trouble getting into this thread. Now that I'm finally here (gosh, I'm tired!) i would like to know if anyone has ever heard of "Brother Juniper Bread". It is possibly the best bread I've ever had. It gives new meaning to the quote "Let them eat cake". Anybody?

Scottish Short Bread ( a tad sweet perhaps ...grin )

My preference, most Mediterranean soft but crusty white breads, eaten under the sun preferably with a glass of wine or beer, some sundried tomatoes, olives, cheese ...... heaven ....cool
