Englishman55: I seek only the truth, not lies or falsifications given by man in the name of a God..... Give me the truth and I will believe... and please don't ask me to read a book.... written by man.

I am sure, when your God is ready, he will come visit me and have a quiet word about how bad I have been in my life....
Until that day happens, I will keep an open mind, but HE/SHE needs to come speak with me personally.... not a human..... and please don't say God was created in the image of man, because he wasn't... God created man....... man only distorts the reality of God to suit his own selfish reasons.. to take advantage of the poor, or the sick, or weak.

I am sure you can discount all my claims by quoting passages in the book or giving instances of miracles.... yes they do happen, but why should your God be the one to claim them, or by damming me to hell for ever (nice Christian sentiment that)... but until he comes to me peersonally...... I WILL KEEP AN OPEN AND CRITICAL MIND

I hear ya, I really do, but I take exception to what you said about the book being written by man because of the prophecies that have come to pass as well as the images/ideas that men cant just come up with on thier own, like the visions of seraphim etc. No one even knew what these things were nor could they have imagined them. I do understand completely why you feel what you feel though. I have been in the same place. Yet after God revealed himself to me I saw it in a brand new light and I saw things within the book that I never saw before. In fact it became like a treasure chest to me in so many ways. Ideas like being transformed by the renewing of you rmind, and a peace that surpasses all understanding etc... it is way more than just a book of nice addages to me. it contains the meaning of life and life everlasting within.

Yet it is impossible to really understand it unless God himself opens you to it. The precepts and deep insights cannot be seen unless your mind becomes open to the reality of the existance of God for real to begin with.

Englishman55: PS: Thats why I am waiting for God to come and speak with me.... not a man.. will not be holding my breath though !

every night i keep myself up and think that God will come and speak to me but HE never really shows up. So at one point, when i just can't keep my eyes opened any longer, i just leave a note on my door that reads " sorry God. i maybe sleeping when you decide to come. i just don't want you to wake me up when i am sleeping because waking up in the middle of the night gives me a terrible headache. so please try again tomorrow night. thank you."

Glock17: If god existed, surely he would prove it! Its not that i don't believe in god, but i don't believe the men who invented him!

The reality is that he has proved it, you just bont look at the proof, nor do you accept it as proof. The intracacy of DNA should prove it to you. DNA is information, like your hard drive contains information. It was PUT there! Not randomly evolved. There is purpose to it. Go deeper into science and you can clearly see that God is real. Yet so many religiously force blinders over thier eyes when viewing these kind of facts. Spiritually, study the prophecies and you will see that there is a power that dwells among men hat annot be explained by science and there also is the divine. There is much more to this world than meets the eye....Thank God. There is meaning and purpose to life! Why would that be? If you say that those things dont prove God, then you can see that it proves that there is much more than we know at least, and God is definitely possible if not probable. Hopefully pessimism wont rule your thinking and you will be open to things higher than yourself and a love so powerfull that all things hinge upon it and rely upon it.

Yo9u are right about that 100%! God is nothing like man, though we are created in his image. Not fully like him, but the fact that we have a mind body and soul, free will and emotions, understanding, compassion etc... are all parts of Gods charachter that we have been instilled with.

Think for a second, mind, body and soul (or spirit) we are three in one, yet one in the same. When you are only spirit you have no body, but you have a manifestation. you have manifestation, mind and spirit.

My mind can battle my body, my spirit can battle my mind, yet I am one person, when you hear my voice (my manifestation) you see my personality and the exact representation of my being.

sometimes we ask god to speak to us and we think that we will hear a voice, but that voice never comes. We seem to want God to show himself in the way that WE want him to, or in the way that we think he should. We ignore how in the long term things all work out for the best ultimately in our lives, and that the consequences that we recieve for our misdeeds might be part of how God communicates with us. Do you think that this conversation is just random? The Ideas, the pessimism and the responses to that pessimism hold no communication from God to you at all? Maybe God chooses to speak to you in your deepest conscience... Maybe he speaks with a soft summer breeze at times and the smell of flowers... Maybe he speaks through the truth and through the true loving wisdom we learn through our childerens lives... I have found that sometimes God wispers to us...

The topic is Jesus, not god as I understand growing-up catholic but being as it may, if you served in the military or NYPD, you question everything.handshake cheers

There is no seperation of the two in reality, but I can see why you see a seperation. I am talking about both, all and everything

In accordance with catholism, Jesus is the son of god which separates in reality but I at this point in my life agnostic and is a moot point to discuss though I respect what people believe provided they do not impose their beliefs on me.handshake wine

you might want to consider wording your posts differently then. If you dont want others to impose thier beliefs on you, then consider your last post and how it imposes your beliefs on others who read it. Not being rude here, but you said that you thought we were talking about Jesus and not God. The way that you phrased it was extremely suggestive of your beliefs. I am overt in what I say. You can take it for what it is. A better way for you to have phrased your response might have been: I dont believe Jesus is God so I am confused if we are talking about Jesus or God.

Do you see the difference? You were imposing your belief. As if I was wrong in how I was writing because I had no seperation in my posts. You brought about seperation as if it were fact.

The son of God yes, but in light of the whole scripture he was the manifestation of Gods word into flesh. The exact representation of his being. Are my words not me? and if Jesus is the Son of god and the manifestation of God, what would Jesus's last name be? In human flesh he did not hold all the the information of the universe and still prayed to his father, but he still was the manifestation of God and here to be a perfect sacrifice for our sins. No imperfect human can be a sacrifice for sin, because he is sinfull himself. It had to be a perfect one. It had to be the manifestation of God, and the scripture gives ample words to drive that fact home, not only by the apostles, but by the prophets hundreds and thousands of years before he came.

I meant no offense or imposing my belief as I stated later that I am agnostic and was only going by the thread and just the point of most religions that believe in Jesus is the son of god and you referred to God which would be separate as far as I would understand it to be, again no offense intended and will not dispute you any further on this subject(moot point).cheers

Hey Thanks 7eyes for hearing me..... now go have a word with yourself and try and understand what you are saying, because I got to the 3rd line down and totally lost the plot.

I honestly appreciate your desire to spread the "Word", But I really want to hear it from the man himself.... his own words, not yours, or anyone elses, no fables, chapters, or sayings, no quotes from a book writen by man... Let him, her, it or something else come and speak with me..... and If you you think you have the right to say that I will never understand what the lord has to say because I have never suffered, then go take a running hike sunshine, coz you don't know me at all.

I am not the one who said anything about suffering. I know that God speaks, I have seen it. I was an avid God hater before he spoke to me (not saying you are - just that I was) Yet I speak from my heart and say what I have learned (and not from a book) I do believe in the book, but my first experience was from "Him" and then I heard his name clearly in the book and I recognized it.

Because of the love and power that he has shown me, I will always speak of it when I hear things antithetical to it. My only hope is that others might see that there truly is something more to life and that eternal life is real. What else is there that we seek in life....We all cry out from within in hope that God is real and actually good. That there is more to life, and when we die, it is not the end.

The good news is that those things screaming out from within you are true, it really is. I screams from our hearts so that we will seek it.
