solitare: and wear collinders as helmets...those metal strainers that people use for salads, spaghetti , vegies after being washed and probably brains also....
Now just for the heck of it, as so many females are obcessed with finding knight for whatever reason...even if just for the night, an 'update' on knights...real ones:(FYI)
When civilized Europe fell along with the Hapsburg dynasty at the end of WW1, literally, only a few handfuls of knights were left alive. On April 30, 1923, the Grand Master Eugene, Archduke of Hapsburg-Lothringen, commander in chief of the Austrian forces on the Italian front during the war, resigned and was suceeded by Bishop Norbert Klein...a born commoner.
In 1929, a radical change took place in the entire structure of the surviving orders of knighthood. The erstwhile military order of the Teutonic Knights, the most famous of all the military orders, was transformed into a religiuos community of priests and lay-brothers with solemn vows similar to any other religious congregation in the Roman Catholic Church. I assumed again, its old 13th century title of Ordo Teutonicus Sanctae Mariae in Jerusalem(officially designated by the initials O.T) and is listed in the Annuario pontifico as a mendicant order. This new community, with a very old past, devotes itself to parish work and works of charity; it is divided into five provinces(Austria,Bavaria, Italy, Slovakia and the practically extinct province of the Czech Republic) with a total membership of just a hundred or so real, actual knights(in name only), most of whom are also priests. A congregation of sisters is affiliated to the Order, also divided into five provinces with over 500 members, mostly dedicated to hospital work.
The superior general still has the old title of 'Hochmeister'/ Grand Master; his residence being in Vienna, Austria. The real, titled knights of the guard who survived and were alive when the transformation came about, became members of the 'Ordensritter' (Knights of The Order). Since the last Grand Master, Eugene of Hapsburg died, there are now no survivors. A remnant of the old prerogatives has, however, remained in the continuing order; the right to bestow real, actual knighthood on any eminent Catholic males, born of our old European aristocracy, or common born, either lay or clerical, and on any great benefactors of the order. These 'honourary' knights are called 'familiares'. The order may, among its old aristocratic members may pass on the title of knight and the son must take the vows of knighthood to still defend the weak and poor and must still serve in his country's or any military force. Then, there are the Knights of Malta...they have their own websites...but they too, outwardly, they do not carry swords , openly. Yet many types of Dragons are still slain, both literally and figuratively by several secret orders thought to still exist...
There are no real knights in shining or rusty armour for the commoners...Monarchy in its real capacity is outlawed from existing, as it is against the law for the Aristocracy to rule Europe, who created knighthood in the first place; sadly it is truly, the age of the common and the very common...
Commoners trying to act like knights must all belong to the Ordu Rectorium...
Quite an Order.grin

This will sound corny, but I genuinely think most men act like knights in shining armour a lot of the time. I don't mean a guy swooping down to solve every problem you've ever had, but how generous and brave they can be when it comes to helping a woman.

Time and time again I'm struck by how quickly men will drop everything to help a woman out - most recently, when I broke down in the middle of a busy street. 6 guys came out of nowhere to push my car to the safety of the offroad & didn't even wait around for me to thank them.

I think good guys are everywhere.:-)

All that history talk really turns me on....I think I love you! No need for knight in shining armour here---I am my own knight!
