Yesterday the Group stage of the competition was completed, On the 18th of December the draw of the last 16 knockout stage will be drawn.
What do you think the draw will be?
All the teams are below, separated between group winers and runner ups. Remember teams cannot be drawn with a team that played in the same group as them or be drawn against a team of the same country as them.

Group winners Runner-ups

Manchester United (England) Ac Milan (Italy)
Chelsea (England) Inter Milan (Italy)
Arsenal (England) Lyon (France)
Barcelona (Spain) Olimpiakos (Greece)
Real Madrid (Spain) CSKA Moscow (Russia)
Sevilla (Spain) Stuttgart (Germany)
Fiorentina (Italy) Bayern Munich (Germany)
Bordeaux (France) F.C Porto (Portugal)

My predictions are

Olimpiakos - Manchester United
Lyon - Barcelona
Inter Milan - Chelsea
Bayern Munich - Real Madrid
Stuttgart - Bordeaux
CSKA Moscow - Arsenal
F.C Porto - Fiorentina
Ac Milan - Sevilla

You sure chose the easiest draw for your Manchester United there!
laugh

Jokes apart, the only team I'd be worried of facing in the Champions League is Milan. Somehow, no matter how terribly they are faring in their domestic league, they always manage to give a 100% performance in the Champions League.

Hey that emoticon belongs to us.grin

The Manchester United crest has been altered on a few occasions, but the basic form remains similar. The badge is derived from the crest of the city of Manchester. The devil on the club badge stems from the club's nickname "The Red Devils", which was adopted in the early 1960s after Matt Busby heard it in reference to the red-shirted Salford rugby league side. By the end of the 1960s, the devil had started to be included on club programmes and scarves, before it was finally incorporated into the club badge in 1970, holding its unmistakable trident. In 1998, the badge was once again redesigned, this time removing the words "Football Club".

I think if it was to happen that way, then there will be a very competitive quarter final!
And its never easy who you face,
Last season in the champions league we played

Inter Milan - (last 16 knockout stage)
F.C Porto - (Quarter Final), with the home game 1st
Arsenal - (Semi Final), with the home game 1st
Barcelona in Final

And personally I don´t Milan are as strong as they were, last time they won the Champions League.
If Zurich can beat Milan in the San siro then any body can!!!

Well no direspect intended but from the teams that came as runners up in the groups, Olimpiakos and CSKA Moscow are, at least on paper, the 2 weakest sides.

Of course, once on the pitch anything can happen, but if I was a Man. Utd. fan, I'd choose one of those 2 sides to face in the knockouts instead of the others.

I´n not gonna lie, I would prefer a weaker side for the knockout stage, and in thequater final we play who ever.
Its a shame roma not there, so we can beat them 7 - 1 again!!!

Well enjoy that one off night of incredible United luck mate. 5 of the 7 goals hit the post before bouncing in, plus we were lacking 5 key players in that match.

I know these sound like silly excuses and nothing can cancel that result, we just had the bad luck of reserving our worst game of the decade for that night. Just to put things in perspective, in that same season Roma trashed Inter 6-2 in the Coppa Italia Final, and finished runners up in the league, and this despite having a fraction of Inter's budget at their disposal.

Just remember that a couple of weeks before, Roma had beaten United quite easily in Rome wink

Oh by the way, at least Roma didn't take nearly a decade to go past the Champions League group stage like United did. Remember the trashings you used to get in the 90's whenever you met the likes of Barcelona, or the 4 goals 'mighty' Gotheborg put past you? laugh

I didn't mean to disrespect your team no worries :)

Actually, since Roma aren't participating in the Champions League this year I usually find myself sympathizing for the underdogs when I'm watching any particular match.

I always enjoy it when a team that doesn't have super budgets manages to pull of a result against one of the giants grin

Oh, I forgot to add, Greece as a national team already managed to pull of a huge upset in the Euros a few years ago, so historical precedent favours you as well beer

Ok We may got battered by Barcelona in the final last season, but how many teams has reached the final of the champions league 2 consecutive times in the Champions League era.

How many teams won a European Cup final after being 1-0 down and outplayed the whole game, having the opposition hit the post 3 times, and then scoring 2 scrappy goals in the final minutes of the game?

How many teams then won the European Cup again because an opposing player slipped while taking a penalty kick?

Yes, Manchester United are a great team, but man, lady luck does love you as well!

Manchester United have a decent chance in progressing to the Quarter Final, With the first leg away.
Ac-milan have not been as strong as they were when they won the Champians League last time. Last time Ac Milan was in the competition they were knockout by Arsenal in the San Siro when there away leg was only a goal less draw. and this was the same season that Manchester United won they competition. Both teams are equal to one another throughout this year competition.
- Both teams were beaten at home by a team that had no chance of progressing to knockout stages. With Milan losing to Zurich and Man United losing to Besiktas although United were qualified when they played this game they had the kids playing.
Although Cristiano Ronaldo lefted for Real Madrid last summer, Manchester United are pretty much at the same position as last season with the Premier League race still wide open, and in the Carling cup Semi final coming up in January, and the FA cup still to come.
