Also - what you say about people making excuse - I have an old friend in UK, and he cant even imagine himself taking a holiday abroad, never mind actually going to live with a foreigner!
I think we are creatures of habit... and if someone has not done a lot of travelling (for family, work or pleasure)during their life they will find it very difficult to consider a major move to be with a new partner.
