As some of you know i recently started a new job, and thought i would share my first day, after my training.

I going to large hotels, attend Welcome Mtgs and advise people on how to get a great tan whilst staying safe and promote my Companies products.

On day 1 i was approached by a German guy the colour of mahogony, he was interested in the Tan Enhancer ( he was wearing Speedo's) and it really wasn't the tan enhancer he needed), he explained as it was not in a spray bottle he was not interested as he could not do his back his self, but if i was would apply it for him every day, he would buy it! ( i lost the sale)

The next lady was the colour of a milk bottle, she asked if I could help her get a tan, (great i thought). I asked how long she had been here she replied 10 days and had been using a factor 50!!! and that she was going home the next day! Pleeease let it get better

laugh frustrated frustrated

I am of milky white complexion and have no desire to get a tan. Although when I was younger, I thought differently. With several skin surgeries to remove damage over the years, I have finally thought differently regarding tans.

My personal belief is, "If we were suppossed to become tanner safely without damaging consequences, then this would have been born into us with our genetics."

So I'm not so sure that even a factor 50 could stop the damage in the peak time of the ultra violet rays.

I'm sorry Morgan as I would not be a customer of a sun tanning product that claimed safety. I'm a sunburn magnet, even with a sunscreen and long sleeves on believe it or not. But that is all we have nowadays for protection so my time is very limited out in the sun in general until way after certain hours evencool

And that is your choice which is fine. But here many people come wanting a tan and do not use correct protection and some none at all, its my job to try and help people understand the dangers of the sun, and help them achieve a tan safely. wine

People are going to lie in the sun wether it's good for them or not. So you may as well advise them on how best to protect themselves. A brown skin is today a sign of status, ie, you have enough money and leisure time to lie in the sun. A tan skin color has been made appealling by Hollywood. Funny that in centuries past, having a white skin, untouched by the sun, was the sign of nobility.

or you could be like me and just throw away all that bottled stuff, pull on a pair of shorts, hop on the mower and spend all day in the sun mowing acres of ground. I get brown as a berry and no skin damage. yee hawgrin

You have a very good and valid point there Morgan. For many who do want to sunbathe, it is true that people do not use the correct protection and some use none at all. You have your work cut out for you for sure.

You will surely be very successful with this group of people. Hopefully, they will pay close heed to your advice or pay later on in life for their lack of better judgement in their earlier years.professor

thumbs up happens here in the islands all the time.....besides sunburn and the after affects of sunburn is very painful and some tourists are aware while others are ignorant and take it for granted that its ok to have their children running around all day in the sun without using the correct sun tan lotions and taking precautionary measures against sunburn.

I try as much as i can to keep out of the sun for two reasons, 1. i already dark skinned and i still get tanned very quietly, if i spend 20 minutes in the sun i get a tan and 2. i itch when i am in the sun too much because i have a dry skin problem (eczema) and its very uncomfortable and the medication for it is costly so ..............prevention is better than cure !
