I recon we all have the same prob. Even if a woman makes the first move you dont even get a reply most of the time.

I am having a hard time with believing this online dating ever comes to anything. I can count on one hand how many times I have received any mail.

Any way good lucksigh

sigh I find it difficult to find anything, no matter the country - as long as it is in Europe.... frustrated

And another problem: Have sometimes made up a very detailed search... But it seems the "matches" are never online.. allways says: last online for 3 or 4 weeks.... sad flower

Looking at your profile, you're looking for someone who is, amongst other things, forgiving.................what are you likely to be up to that needs forgiving?

I tried to mail you to tell you but I was blocked!!

RayninSpain: Has anyone ever considered the problems that middle aged and older people have finding a woman(or man) after finding oneself alone in a relatively foreign place...to explain...I am in Spain looking to start a new life....my wife hated it and after many disagreements we decided to end our marriage...she went back to the UK...I stayed put. Now I'm 60 years old...I can't just chat up a 60 year dolly bird in a pub can I? And where would I find a 60 year old dolly bird anyway?

I'm no old fogey and 'social activities'....bowling or bridge or other clubs or worse....don't really appeal to me. On top of that, I haven't got time to mess about.....If I try to take my time I'll be an OAP before I've got an invite for supper!!

Dating sites are generally a con. This one is very good and free...but....there are not that many women in my region so the odds of finding Nirvana are pretty long.....So who has a good solution??

Ray

I can't think of a better place to live than Spain for meeting people.
A large ex-pat community, 1,000's of tourists and lovely local people, and if you are talking about meeting someone on CS look at how many have posted here on your own thread, who are from Spain.... 7 so far.

Just read your profile and it must be because you're separated. That's fine for chatting but for a potential partner I want someone who is not still legally attached to someone else, that's why there's a block. No offense wave

That's a two way street.

Having not long failed at my marriage, I am not looking for someone who wants me for marriage.

What you are saying to me is that you are looking for someone to marry, otherwise it would not matter if they were seperated, if you loved them. !

No, I'm saying if someone is separated they still have things to sort out. I'm not looking for marriage, I'm looking for someone who has got his life on track and wants some company along the way. I just don't want to get involved with someone who is technically still married. Is that so wrong?

Just because they are technically married does not mean they do not have their lives sorted out.

I know people who have beeen seperated for 20 and have no desire or just can't be bothered to get a divorce.

So what do you do if you meet someone like that. ?

Right now, it is complicated and very costly for me to get a divorce, apart from the fact that I would possibly have to move away and not see my children for longer periods of time than I do now.
Therefore, for me it is easier to not bother. I am happy with that and if any woman thinks I am still thinking of getting back with the ex because I am not divorced, really isn't the one for me.

Well, everyone is different Englishman. I just know it's not for me. My first husband told me he was divorced with one child when I met him, after we'd been engaged for a year I found out he was separated with two children. Hell, I still married him, because I loved him, but perhaps it's left me more cautious.

Just by way of an update, just after making my last post.the young couple opposite my apartment asked me to dinner, just a local restaurant, I was tired but since they were nice enough to ask, I said, yes, good meal and nice company, "excuse me" said I, went to the loo and decided to have a cigarette outside.
Outside was a lovely lady doing the same thing, we chatted for a while and she stayed behind from her friends when they left and joined us,great night and good few laughs at my awfull Portuguese, so next week we are all going back to the same restaurant and this time this ladies friends will join us, it should be a good night.

The point is, synchronisity, go with the flow and make the effort, I was tired and not in the mood to go out but made the effort and met someone new and fun.

As far as age statements on dating sites, these are surely guides not Bibles, within reason a few years either way doesn't matter, what matters is attitude and approach, reading some of the responses to this thread, it occured to me that all of them are proof that there's plenty of fun, nice mature people around.

Hi Chrisys wave

You are obviously a sociable person and make the most of social opportunities (tired or not laugh ).
I am very much attuned to socialising, and do accept invitations which are offered frequently by a bunch of good, well established friends. However, in my instance, it is usually the same crowd of people or their visitors who are holidaying.... and it is the same old story each time.... I am the single bod, the odd one out... I think that in 6 years since leaving the UK, I could probably count the number of single men I met here (whether fanciable or not), on one hand laugh

Thankfully, I'm not looking for marriage, but would like to have a close, intimate relationship with a someone special hug

I guess being single, footloose and fancy free, I do have the option of looking further afield and move home if I did end up in a long distance relationship.... who knows? Mr Right might be hanging out on the other side of the globe heart wings
