A man has been sentenced to death in a court of law for sorcery. He was predicting the future with a crystal ball or something. I thought we had left this sort of voodoo stuff behind us with the Spanish Inquisition. Really.... doh

Yes, well you don't live in one of those backward countries that has "religious police"!laugh

Any country that has religion tied to the state is always going to be stuck in the dark ages....or at war with someone!

Pretty sad though....

It just goes to show what a load of balloney predicting the future is, let alone with a crystal ball.......

If this guy could predict the future, then he certainly would not have gone to Saudi, because he would have seen his imminent arrest and trial.

Maybe the Saudi Courts should have considered this, and known then that he is not a socerer and thrown the case out of court.

I am suprised his lawyers did not think of it either. doh

The case isn't about what he predicted, it is about the fact that he did predict....

The catholic church believed the same thing from the dark ages rigt up to 50 years ago, threatening people with excomunication for practicing it. It is still not allowed, just not mentioned as such a big issue any more.hug

This was obviously a stunt copied from other stations around the world.
It was clearly all about getting ratings rather than any type of witchcraft.

I read a few years ago about a driver crossing the border into Iran being charged under the anti gambling laws, He was taken to court for having fluffy dice hanging from the rear view mirror in his car. His defence was that they was just novelty toys and couldn’t be used to gamble with as they were nearer round than cubed. The Judge disagreed and told him that he was the devils messenger and sentenced him to 25 years in prison.

Ridiculous!!!

Trish I agree with you on a lot of things, but on this one I don't!

I am not religious, but I have seen some seriously unexplained things in my day, and whether you choose to believe this or not, in many cultures and religions, not just catholicism and western society, a form of exorcism does tend to alleviate what people can't scientifically explain, in cetain cases. It also has nothing whatsoever to do with brainswashing!

My mind is still open on this. It isn't as water-tight as your atheist site makes it out to be.

Half of any truth is still a lie!peace

I can't agree with that at all Ginger.

Devils are spawned from religion.... the foil to any God.

Without a God there is no Devil...... so they could not have existed before religion invented them.

Shamanism is practiced by primitive peoples in jungles and remote places who have never heard of a religion.

Their only belief is that is works, and that by experience, not by anything that anyone told them to believe.hug

I hate to be pinnickety here Ginger, but you mantioned Devils and religion in your original statement, which is the one I replied too.

Now you are speaking of primitive people without religion...... not quite the same thing !

I see organised religion as adware like Spyware Doctor. They download a problem and then sell you the solution which is never really cleared! It leaves you functional but always running back for upgrades. It's that simple. I've just installed Pagan 3.1 but the occaisionally the system reverts back to Christianity 2010.4 without warning.dunno
