I split with my son's dad at the beginning of the year and asked my 12 yo boy recently how he was feeling about it. His response was..."I just want you to be happy mum"... awwwwwwwwwww!! He could have said a number of things but when he said what he said, it just melted my heart heart beating heart beating...

Kids are so perceptive and we often don't give them enough credit where it's due...

They also come out with funny things at the most inapt moments... like when my daughter was a 2yo toddler and was travelling in a shopping cart... in spotting a man in the same ile she asked at the top of her voice... "mum, why is that man's face painted black?"... lol... she had been to a kids party a days earlier and had her face painted for the first time, so it made sense to her at least rolling on the floor laughing rolling on the floor laughing rolling on the floor laughing

Would love to hear more "Out of the mouth of babes" stories as I'm sure there would be many...

My son was watching tv, last nite, he came across something advertising internet dating...

He then proceeds to say mum you should be dating...

I reply really and he then goes on to say yes the internet, make up a profile and then put your picture up.

I couldn't help but say why son do you think I need to date? and he saids so you are not lonely and you can get cuddles..

I told him I was too busy and didn't have much time for dating and he was very in to this and the concerned look on his face was so cute...

He cracked me up with his words though, as he has a speech delay, I had to clarify the words profile and others it was cute and a crack up at the same time....laugh

My daughter's 2...at the moment i'm loving the moment's i'm asking her to help me with something and she say's "of course"!! and then does what she's told....

Today all that changed! I asked her to get off the table and she said "NO", her working out how to work me...farout, sometime's it's hard, especially at her age!!

one thing that hasn't changed and I'M SURE it won't for a while, is her crawling into bed with me at 5am, waking me up at 7am, smiling at me and putting her little arms around me and saying "i love you very much mummy" Awwwwww

heart wings heart beating heart beating

mariespoodles: ... too funny... they hear all sorts of things from any number of us and are like sponges at this age... then unintentionally, as if from nowhere, their new found thoughts come out and are used on us when we least expect it.

laugh thumbs up

My grandson, almost 4, who steps into his Dad's role when he's at work ..

Out grocery shopping with his Mum, picks something up off the shelf and goes "How bout this, babe?"

And when she seems stressed, a comforting hug and "Its OK, sweetheart" laugh

My ex myself and our 2 kids were on our way back to Victoria from Queensland. I was driving and it had been serenely quiet for a while as everyone else had nodded off at least an hour prior.

It was blissful cos I love long drives so I was enjoying the peace and solitude when a little female voice ( my 6yo daughter) piped up from the back of the car

" are you awake Mum?"

Thankfully I was but she has never lived it down. laugh

Oh if I could have just one of those great moments again.

I don’t know if they were the best years of their lives or ours?

laugh yeah I said that to my daughter .. she's stressing out cos she can't do uni this year as she doesnt have a sitter for him .. he goes to school next year and, if I remember correctly, these were just THE best times with her and her brother, for me.

Old enough to chat with, have fun with and all the funny funny stuff comes out of them at that age daydream

I suggested she makes the most of this time with him .. she has the rest of her life to do what she wants and follow her dreams
