cytex: no serious criminals will get guns just like they have them over here. however if somebody breaks into your house you would assume they dont have a gun. Because they are to hard to get. The gangs on the street the street punks nope because it is to hard to get . gun control doesn't eliminate gun crime anybody arguing this point is dilusunal however ordinary Joe scumbag just simply wont be able to get a gun hence a safer society . As for negotiating with a burglar if he assumes you will probably be armed then yes the crook will come armed if he assumes you wont why would he come armed and risk longer jail time . Get a dog if you want home security . There is no excuse for shooting people .

Thieves are not that virtuous. They are opportunistic. They are looking for easy pickings . They will not go into a home knowing that there's a chance that the homeowner would shoot them. They are not valiant in any way. You give them too much credit and you don't give the decent people any.

This is where we disagree they DO go in to homes knowing that the homeowner could be armed with a gun . They go in with guns because of this fact and they go in knowing that it is either him or them and they wont hesitate to shoot . Now in a country where the chance of the home owner not being armed they dont have this mentality simply because guns aren't everywhere.
If they get caught with a gun they will get arrested regardless of if it is a legal gun or not and they will do jail time.
They will have to deal with nasty individuals to get that gun in the first place not a shop . They will have to pay over the odds for that gun. Most scumbags in this country just simply dont have the connections dont have the cash. These guys are just looking for the easy pickings and most will come unarmed and run at the first sign of life in the house .
This is what gun control brings safety.Its proven by a lot of countrys that gun control works . And I think it proven by the american approach of give guns to everyone just makes for a more violent society.

This makes no sense and no way does gun control work anywhere but in your mind. A thief will choose to go to a home where there is no gun than to go where there they that a gun is in a home and will be used against them.
