No.
Animals will act out of instinct, a need for survival. In many respects, so do human beings though we incorporate manipulation, mind games, oneupmanship, being strategic, etc in order to get what we want or where we want to be. We have wars, others are abused in varying forms and we think nothing of trampling on others in order to achieve our goals. We believe in conquer, convert, oppress and eradicate if others do not conform to our beliefs. Not sure how "civilised" that can be considered?
I once watched a TV programme where there was a conversation between two people debating how we are different from the animals. One stated that we have a conscience, being corrected by the other in saying that we have the ABILITY to have a conscience.
Different!
Because of those who choose to squander such an ability....
