I am watching Barca v Arsenal.....Messi has scored a hatrick in the first 42 minutes.

What a player, what skill and what price?

Yes.... Messi is brilliant, but without such a team of good players around him he wouldn't be that good.

Some credit has to go to his team mates and also to his manager for getting them all to gell so well.

I saw the match also, and they did rather make Arsenal look rather second rate.

Agreed to a certain degree EM, but he'd be good in any team, but yes, any world class player does need those around him to support and play him into the game. Players like Messi, Rooney, Pele, etc do need the ball and they do need players good enough to give them that ball.

I just such a shame that many of Bestie's finest performances
were never caught on film. I walked away from OT many times
in awe of what I'd seen him do, knowing that only the 60,000
present had witnessed it.

Yes...

A year or so ago I went to a local charity do which incorporated a book-signing session by Alan Hudson (who at that time was living in Cyprus).

As well as re-counting some very humurous incidents of his days as a football player and a very good friend and "sidekick" to George Best, Alan showed us some video clips of goals scored by both himself and George, and it certainly brought back memories and a reminder of what a great football player George Best was ...
Later in the evening, I chatted with Alan for quite some time, and it was very obvious of his immense admiration for George's skill as a player (both on the football field and off field with the ladies wink laugh )

(both on the football field and off field with the ladies )

Oh that !rolling on the floor laughing rolling on the floor laughing

Yes Alan especially admired George's skill at pulling some really gorgeous birds (as he puts it laugh ) so much so that he would have been quite having any of George's leftover.... He is quite a character to chat with... humour and great little anecdotes

bodleing: Some of his quotes.

In 1969 I gave up women and alcohol and it was the worst 20 minutes of my life.

I spent a lot of my money on booze, birds and fast cars - the rest I just squandered.

I used to go missing a lot... Miss Canada, Miss United Kingdom, Miss World.

Yep, very much Alan's style in quotes....

Think I'd better get out of here now before anyone catches on that I have hijacked the Messi thread blushing hijack flirty super
