I was raised in the UK, and have lived away for a very long time.... I just moved back after seeing the world.
It comes across as a country 20 years behind the rest. People who have seen the world only are invited to this, thanks!

Yes, and in particular, 3rd world countries. About being grateful... British pay sooo much tax, and everything is wildely expensive. In Europe, they have more and pay less. There is being grateful, and being ripped off...

Conjure up what you wish.
Simply saying i have been away, now im back. The reality is U.K is very much on a downward scale. Anybody been to Europe/abroad. Would you agree with me?

In France there are loads of homeless people (more than you imagine)...The water is harder than compared to the Uk..It's a lot more expensive to live in france....The health service (unless you have medical insurance) they'll screw you....France is still in recession and buisness's are closing down everyday...

Germany, isn't much better...I've good friends who live and work in Berlin and they tell me the same..

Spain...You're having a laugh..They're more or less in the same position as Ireland (a brain drain)...everyone is to look for work else where.

Italy.....rolling on the floor laughing rolling on the floor laughing rolling on the floor laughing (Go and live in Naples for a week...Or Milan)

The burning Q is;if you dislike the state of affairs in the Uk why return???

dont think the grass is greenr on the other side cos i can assure you it aint. I have lived in germany for over 30 years now and i will stay here. But having said that the cost of living is in some respects a lot less than in the uk and in other areas its a lot more expensive bit if swings and roundabouts sort of thing. The comment from phoenix was somewhat misleading about berlin, that is the capital of germany and also the political centre so yeah its gonna be more expensive. Same as london is more expensive than say halifax or manchester. In all european countries there are sickness insurance but you get treatment without elbow long waiting lists not like in england. so yeah all in all one is better off in mainland europe than in the uk. JMO

cheers

Yup been to scandinavia.
Higher tax rates therefore more money spent on services.

Been to france.
Greater dependence on EU and limited working hours that caps income. Costs and services reflect actual salaries.

Been to USA.
Wow! Lovely place, low tax, masses of low paid workforce. Poor service industry unless you can pay. Again, culture dictates nature of the services.

Been to Australia.
No water in the south, flooding in the north.

Real issue is the fact that UK cannot decide what to be, whether to have higher taxation of Europe to pay for higher social service structure or lower taxation as in USA and accept higher poverty in the masses. Combine this with the expectation that the state can and should manage the lives of the public and we have a clash of belief. Some think UK going to the dogs because they cannot get what they want, others think UK best place in the world because they can get what they want. Most stuck in the middle complaining about one aspect without understanding the benefits they enjoy cause the elements they despise.

More-over, has the population been informed in this great election regarding the actual level of poverty in UK? If we accept that the exploitation of 3rd world countries cannot continue to support our economy, the level of poverty is quite alarming.

Most who live in the UK through circumstance are of sufficient maturity and ability to deal with far more serious problems than pseudo-intellectual egotistical imposters.
