do you look at a person's forum posts to try and get a feel for what they are about?

But of course, open up those cans of worms.LOL. Jackie, reading your bright and cheerful columns ( if I may call them that) is what brought me to write/compliment you. I think it is a better way to "feel" someone out moreso than to look at their profile which often remains stagnant....do you agree?

Sure do. I have been mailed by a few women and I look to see what they have posted ... and they can look to see what I have posted. Now even if you live a World away you can discuss and maybe even debate. Debate won't always be satisfying ... do you convert another ... but it is surely the best way for people who cannot visit another country to get an insight into what and why people feel the way that they do about whatever issue is debated.

Sorry now even I am confused

I'll read a profile before messaging a person and it's absolutely a must if they've sent me something. Need to know what NOT to ask :)

Of course....

Most of the time it is a forum post that brings me to their profile.

The profile is issentially self advertisement.
A snap-shot of how the person sees the self.

The forum posts show the changing person.

Any relationship I get involved in will be a constantly changing, growing entity.

Much rather base that on something more than a snap-shot.

If I want to get a feel for what a woman is like I'll contact her directly. Preferably by telephone if I'm that interested. If she won’t go that far, then I guess the interest isn’t mutual anyway. dunno

As far as men go I guess I do kind of get a feel for them by how they treat other posters (especially other men). Since I don’t date men, I’m not real concerned about them.

I don’t normally read their back-log of posts. I see enough of them in the forums to get an idea what they are like. At least in general terms. Like I say, I don’t date men so I’m not concerned with a detailed picture of them.

Well, I have to say (as someone mentioned) I was a mess when I came here... I have lived, loved, been burned, loved again, and grown so much in the time...

Then we have the same kind of goofballs, and fun folks... and, the drive bys, backdoors, frauds...

just like real life, eh?

Only sometimes even better! I have made the most amazing contacts and fallen in love with so many soulmates!

There have been forum wars... rantings... MANY MANY so called cliques? Is still have yet to know where these are here now given we are not in school anymore, lol.

Oh, and gossipers, the nasty kind... and, some very smart scammers whom sit back and just get off on all the reactions they get from begining a seed of hatred, and jealousies...

man, so much!
