I am happy in the UK, but have always liked the idea of moving back to Grand Cayman as I was born there and think it really is something special. Also I would not need a visa to go there, just change my passport to Caymanian. applause Always an added bonus.
To be honest though I think this will only happen when I retire or win the lottery as it is not cheap out there unless you have off shore bank accounts!! laugh

In response to: would you consider leaving UK to live in another part of the world? Where would you go? and, what would you miss from back home?

I did it last year! Moved to Cyprus. A better climate meant a better quality of life, a bit like moving from the city to the countyside, but the next level! I visit England for the whole summer and Christmas so I am fortunate enough to have the best of both worlds.

There are all sorts of things I miss from back home and could get hung up about not having, but then the same works in reverse and there are some great new things I have discovered in Cyprus that can only be found there. Like Zivania, a quality wine that is distilled until the alcohol content is so pure, it's kick is lethal and yet doesn't even give you a hangover! wine

But mostly I miss my friends, .....and shopping in Asda! grin

Not to Europe or Ireland now - That is for sure thumbs down
What would I miss - Not sure but having only a state pension of less than £10,000 pa which is taxable and having been robbeed of most of our savings by Banks too mean to pay interest rates above 1% on bondfs and savings accounts below £25,000 and in some cases £50,000 invested, the establishment backed by sucessive governments have deliberately made sure it was and still is out of the question for the lower payed working class to improve the gap between haves and have nots by honest methods.

For the record - If I had my working life over again I would study up on how to break the fraud laws for as long as I could get away with it without resorting to burglary.
When caught, such criminals are better treated and thought of than the honest among us and they even write books while inside and come out and make millions like the political low life puss heads Archer and Aitken did for example.

How come you pay tax on less than £10.000 ? At your age you should be out of the tax bracket as the personal allowance for people between 65 and 74 is now £9490.00 with total income of the year of less than £22900.
