I know it will never be mainstream and there are many negative stereotypes associated with it but are there any fans of bodybuilding out there?

As soon as the doc says I can, I'll be going back to it. (just got operated for a hernia).
Bodybuilding is great but we need not forget to couple it with good nutrition and a good mental upkeep (meditation, contemplation...)

I am a fan of natural bodybuilding and think it's a great way of life in terms of fitness and nutrition. I like being strong and healthy.

Most people don't understand it at all.

I used to hit the gym 3 times a week a few years ago now and i can honestly say i never felt better in my entire life. Its a great sport. I should do it again. I never wanted massive bulk and i'm not vain at all but it felt good to look good.

Does that mean you are working out as follows: biceps-taking the bottle of beer to your mouth; triceps-putting the bottle back on the table; core exercises-groceries; abs-getting up in the morning, thighs-standing up when getting out of bed? tongue

Yes, I think it's great as long as you don't take it to the extreme! Nothing worse (to me anyway) than a guy with triceps as big as my thighs and with big blue veins popping out all over the place... Some of the guys I've seen in gyms grimace and groan and look like they're about to turn into the Incredible Hulk any minute! But toned is verrrrrrrrrrrrrrry yummy! grin

We grunt and groan because we are pushing our limits. Without that working out is a waste of time.

The other side of it is people who go to gyms and just walk on treadmills, wear all the lycra gear and dont sweat at all.laugh

It is true that most women do not like overly-muscled men and prefer "toned".
It is also true that many men lift weights in order to "get girls";
training only trophy body-parts like chest and biceps,focusing on upper body and neglecting legs,back etc.
To me bodybuilding is so much more than the end result.It represents the desire to always go beyond one's previously perceived limitations(physical,mental and otherwise).I may not be big or ripped but I love the journey.....
thumbs up

Sorry, I am not part of the "most"-I like ripped guys, with 6 packs. Round is not a shape to me. Ripped and trimmed with brain also is quite a rare combination. That's why I am looking for the special someone. So if you have it, bring it on baby. banana
